One of my all-time favs. Super close to drinking a good bourbon. Beautiful color. Heavy booze and vanilla in the nose. The taste is warming throughout but has a great complexity with caramel, oak, vanilla, and scotch. Wonderful cold weather sipper that happens to come out right around my bday every year. Fine stuff indeed. .

Tap at the source. Aroma is sweet and strong booze. Tastes like burnt sugar and caramel sweetness.

On tap at bodega. Pours a murky brown with medium head. Smells sweet with oak and bourbon. A little smoke. Tastes more b ourbony than I expected and kind of makes the scotch ale flavor. Palate is super creamy. Still tasty.

From bottle in a snifter. Pours with a decent cream head and disperses to the sides of the glass quickly. Dark brown and crimson hues that is nearly opaque, with a bit of red light coming through. Sweet caramel on the nose with good hits of scotch. Lots of malt character immediately, followed by a smooth whiskey aftertaste that lasts. Cant wait to put one of these in the cellar and wait a few years. Also very good on tap, a pit more mellowed out of the whiskey.

Side by side with Dirty Bastard. Deep reddish brown, maybe a little thicker than DB. Aroma is quite different - a lot of bourbon, oak, hot alcohol vapour in addition to a light smokiness. Taste is lots of smoky malt, some sweet caramel and a ton of oaky bourbon. This is a fantastic sipping beer. Lives up to the hype!

Easily the best Old Ale (Im calling it old ale because it doesnt taste very wee heavy at all) Ive ever had, besides Curmudgeons Better Half. Just wonder bourbon scent, caramel, syrup . . . bourbon in beer form. Fills the palate with warmth and sweetness. Earthy a tad. Excellent!!

Clear red colour, brown hue, slight white head. Aroma of caramel, malts, honey, bourbon and wood. Light dark red fruits. Sweet malty flavour, caramel and honey. Long finish, caramel, light bitter, roasted malts, wood.
Nice.
