Big and delicious for your perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. Its a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

8oz Draught from Taproom. Appearance is dark, caramel brown color with little to no head. Aroma is sugary sweet, bourbon, vanilla, and wood. Taste is caramel malty, scotch alcohol, vanilla, and oak. Amazingly balance with just enough booze flavors not to be overpowering. Palate is full-bodied, ultra smooth texture, fine balance, little carbonation, and a long finish. Truly one of the great American beers out there.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2013 One of my favorites at two years plus. Sweet tobacco, caramel and coffee, creamy oak laden spirit. This is a malt and barrel lovers dream. Fn yummy.

Dark amber pour with a very thin tan head. Oak wood and Carmel aroma with hits of vanilla. Burbon taste with a bit of dark fruit and vanilla very drinkable with the strong alcohol content.

Draft at Over the Bars in Pittsburgh. My favorite so far in 2013. Heavy tastes of scotch and bourbon with a few fruits thrown in. A delightful sipping delicacy.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2013 Pours a dusty burnt orange, with about a finger of head, and little carbonation to be seen. The sediments floating remain frozen in place once the pour settles. The smell starts off of sweet bourbon whiskey, and very sugary malts. There are also notes of raisin, fig and even vanilla cupcake. The taste starts off with the sweet malt, which segues into a light, but fairly defined, scotch taste. I also pick up stronger hints of vanilla and butterscotch toward the end. The taste finishes with lingering spice and scotch. Palate is very smooth, and warm. Despite this having a 10% ABV., this was not as boozy as one would expect.

12 oz bottle. What can I say. This was simply outstanding. Gorgeous deep red pour, kind of a claret color, with an almost non existent thin beige ring of a head. Wonderful bourbon/vanilla/oak wood aroma. Flavor was sweet, but not syrupy or cloying. Lots of brown sugar, cherry notes, citrus hops all blanketed with the oak it rested in. Bourbon flavor as well, but ever so perfect. Not overwhelming. Full bodied, smooth and gut warming. Wonderful!

Poured a reddish brown with deep vanilla bourbon and caramel aroma. Tastes of big vanilla bourbon and some smoky dark roasted malts. Extremely smooth and well balanced.

Potent beer. Pours like red oak, ruby tinged with some lacing. Aroma of candy, honey, oak and booze. The latter stays through aftertaste and gives a sweet end to it. Thick and syrupy on palate. Also some hot spice in finish. On tap at brewpub.

Aroma is dominated by rich caramel notes, both light and dark caramel. There is also some toffee and a light chocolate aroma. Aroma has above amount of vanilla with some oak present as well. No hop aroma. Low to medium, but clean alcohol aroma. Some carmelized fig and raisin notes as well. Also some dark cherry notes if you take a deep breath. Pours a dark brown with some ruby highlights on the edges. A thin, dark tan head recedes fairly quickly leaving a film on the edges. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma. Lots of sweet caramel of varying darkness. Light toffee and chocolate notes as well as a faint smokiness. The flavor has more oak than the aroma but the vanilla is still present as well. Some raisin notes and carmelized fruit. No hop flavor but moderate bitterness. A medium amount of alcohol and low oak character in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodies with medium low carbonation. Alcohol warmth is moderate and astringency is low. Overall this is a very good beer. I am enjoying it more than I remembered liking it. The complex caramel character works nicely with the oak and vanilla notes from the barrel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
