Big and delicious for your perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. Its a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is a handsome looking amber-brown with an off-white fluffy head that lasts for a time. The aroma is alive with bourbon and wood along with caramel malts, butterscotch, and a little smoke. The body is medium to bold. The taste is much like the aroma with a touch of vanilla tossed in and a long, lingering bitter bite at the end. Very nice indeed.

Pours red amber hue with a off white head. Nose and taste of bourbon, toffee, vanilla, caramel, and oak. The level of bourbon is perfect, enough to know its there... And not overpowering the rest of the beer. Body is big and silky. A great sipping beer.

pours dark amber with a red tint. Decent head. Smells of oak, sweet malt, bourbon. The taste is very sweet, the bourbon takes over. I like normal Dirty Bastard better.

Update: Dec 2015

I dont know if they have changed anything from earlier years, but this is working much more beautifully for me now. Gorgeous stewed dates, prunes, caramel, licorice, vanilla, and a beautifully spicy, boozy woody edge in the aroma translate into sumptuously caramely, fruity, vanilla-oaky goodness in the mouth. Sweet malty and fruity flavors are rounded out by the wood, for a slightly acidic, boozy, earthy, spicy, dry finale. Beautiful and much more balanced than I remembered it being.

Original rating (Dec 2011 and Dec 2012): 7/4/8/4/14

It pours a deep, translucent mahogany without much of a head only a thin bone-colored foam shows up momentarily and quickly dissipates. The aroma is caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, licorice and wood sustained by a strong backbone of ethanol. Its super boozy, to say the least. Silky mouthfeel with minimal carbonation. The taste is mainly caramel, brown sugar, and malted grain up front, with a dry, earthy, woody scotch aftertaste. It greets the stomach with soothing warmth.

Bottle. 2012. Aroma is so intense and complex it is difficult to describe. Back and forth between alcohol/burnt sugar and oak and scotch whiskey. Layers and layers of sweetness. The flavor itself is caramel, toffee, and vanilla alcohol flavors. Super dense body and warming sensations. Some earthy yeast flavors as well. Delicious.

11 vintage. Minimal head with no lacing. Big sweet oaky bourbon nose and caramel malts. Taste follows-very rich and sweet with bourbon and caramel and some maple syrup notes. Almost too sweet, but not quite. Want to try this fresh-think I may find it a bit more balanced. Glad I split it with the missus-its a great autumn sipper.
