12 oz. bottle from A Southern Season, Chapel Hill, NC.
Ar: Complex aroma with dominant notes of pit fruit, cherries, slight smokiness, and vanilla.
Ap: Pours a deep brown-red, a beautiful ruby hue when held to the light. Small manila head leaves great lace.
T: Sweet, complex flavors going on here. Lots of date, dried black fig, and a bit of cherry. Booze on the finish brings to mind Irish whiskey. A touch of toffee and chocolate on the finish as well.
P: Thick, creamy body with pretty mild carbonation.
O: I had been wanting to try this for some time, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Big, burly, maybe a bit cloying in its richness but damned good nonetheless.

Pretty good beer for a cold winter’s night. Would not have wanted more than one though.

Pours deep ruby red with a big frothy head, rather good retention. Looks gorgeous. Aroma is already amazing, rich and complex, a lot of sweetness, malt and caramel. Don't think I've ever smelt more bourbon in a beer than with this one, very intense, yet really nice. Very fruity and loads of vanilla. Big body, smooth mouthfeel. Flavour is just as rich and complex as aroma suggests. Very malty and sweet, immense amounts of caramel but adequate for a scotch ale. Again fruity and loads of vanilla, bourbon dominates this beer in a very pleasant way. Finishes long and sweet. Wow, a lot of depth and really delicious. Definitely one of the best scotch ale I've had. Just brilliant. julesxxl (125) - Cholet, FRANCE - JAN 8, 2018

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2018 Clear medium brown, thick, creamy, persistent off white head. Sweet caramel, vanilla aroma. Heaps of caramel/toffee. Very sweet taste, once again lots of caramel and vanilla. Tinge of bitter, and even sour, but sweetness wins out. Scotch taste isn't too strong, as scotch ales often can be. Has obviously mellowed in the barrel. Really, really tasty, and easy to drink. Although sweetness would get a bit much after a few (that and the ABV, which is hidden!). A real treat of a beer. BaroneBirra (510) - Gorizia, ITALY - JAN 5, 2018
0.33 bottle from advent calendar. Dark mahogany, big tan head. Liquorous aroma, Porto and dried plums. Intense taste, sweet liquor, roasted and caramelised malts. Wood notes in the aftertaste, almost tart. Full body, sirupy texture, thin carbonation. Nice complexity, but not so pleasant to drink. macca147 (735) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 31, 2017
Taster. Pours a cola black with a beige head. Aroma: whisky, sweet syrup, oak and mild dried fruit notes. Taste: whisky, syrup, oak and mild maple and fruitcake flavours. Medium bodied. Slick resinous mouthfeel. Moderate to high sweetness. A bit over sweet for my palate but still quite tasty. ZacM612 (869) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - DEC 30, 2017

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 Barwa klarowna, bordowa. Aromat mocny beczkowy, lekko slodowy, torf, karmel, sos sojowy, figi. W smaku bourbon bardzo, suszone owoce, slody palone, przyjemny chmiel. Nasycenie niskie. Alkohol swietnie ukryty. Mega zlozone piwo. Bardzo pijalne. Super zaskoczenie.
