COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blushing Monk is brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries and with a Belgian yeast strain that keeps our head cellar operator from sleeping for a week. It pours a stunning deep berry red and, at 9.2% ABV, has a surprising kick. The perfect dessert beer, it can be enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh cheeses, fruit, cakes and more.

First released in July 2011, rereleased in 2015.

LRonCupboard (68) - Belfast, NORTHERN IRELAND - OCT 27, 2016
Bottle from Vineyard, Belfast. Bright red, small white/pink head. Powerful concentrated raspberry aroma, with syrup, cherry and some wood. Medium body, syrupy/oily texture, lightly carbonated. Taste is fairly sweet, but fairly well balanced by acidic and slightly tart raspberry. Raspberry again very concentrated, almost freeze dried. Long finish. Hides alcohol. Only real criticism is it being a bit one dimensional - you going to need to like concentrated raspberries. First beer my wife has liked ever - extra mark!

750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 9/3/2011. Deep red body. Like a carbonated red wine. Maybe a touch lighter, but close. Pours with a nice pink head. Fascinating for a beer. Leaves nice lacing. Raspberries, whoah. Before the raspberries kick in, it smells musty, too. Taste is all raspberries. Like raspberry juice, without all the sugar. It’s still pretty sweet, but not like an actual raspberry. Not a lot of beer flavors coming through here, but still tasty. Nice tartness in the finish to fight off the sweetness. No booze, amazingly. Tart finish and a little dry. Still a bit heavy, but it’s 9.2%, so I guess that’s to be expected. Not easy to drink. Tough beer to review. Unnecessarily large and difficult to drink, but it has a wonderful fruit flavor.

.75l bottle @Explosive. Pours murky red with low pink head. Aroma is bubble gum, cherry, raspberry, hint of alcohol, malts. Flavor is malts, cherry, raspberry, burned sugar, a bit sourish. Swell!

Hopmaestro (1717) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 6, 2016
Backlog 2015 version: Aroma is full-on raspberries with malty undertones and some wet soil. Taste is sweet malty with a raspberry sourness dragging it up from underneath. Some dry seed tartness and very fruity. There’s a little more to this one than you first expect. Lovely fruit beer.

Hazy reddish color with pinkish head. Aroma has quite natural raspberry juice notes and some sweet malt. Taste starts slightly tart and sweet, fruity, quite tasty. Overall it’s a quite good fruity beer but a bit too sweet for my taste.

Bomber shared at home. Clear bright reddish pink with light pink head. Lots of sweet raspberries, grassy, sweet grains, light German hops. Really not much else. Very sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied with sticky feel.

Sample @ Charleston Brewvival 2015. Deep reddish pour with a small head. Nice vibrant meaty raspberry on the nose. Quite jammy. Flavor is pretty tart and sharp. More raspberry and dark tart fruits complementing a bit of wood and citrus. Medium body, strong carb. Good.

Pours cloudy reddish with a small white pillow. Aroma is intense sweet raspberries, small yeast. Taste is splendid, light tartness, sweet raspberries with light yeast kicker. Had this with dessert and it really couldn’t have been a better pairing.
