COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blushing Monk is brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries and with a Belgian yeast strain that keeps our head cellar operator from sleeping for a week. It pours a stunning deep berry red and, at 9.2% ABV, has a surprising kick. The perfect dessert beer, it can be enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh cheeses, fruit, cakes and more.

First released in July 2011, rereleased in 2015.

Poured a dark burgundy with very pink foam. The aroma is a full on blast of raspberry. Not much complexity but it does the raspberry really well. The taste? Hey more raspberry imagine that. I admit this is quite delicious if you like raspberries. The alcohol is also nonexistent, in fact it almost tastes a bit like drinking a 3% lambic. The body is quite full on this one as well.

2015 edition. Shared with Aminatchime. brought back from my trip to NYC. Pours dark copper, redish brown. Small white head, but at least it's stable. Smell is raspberry jam, medium high to high in intensity. Tad Sugar ( candi Sugar ?) . no malts, hops, or other aspects. Taste is sweet, dark Sugar, raspberry jam. Not really malty, accept for the medium to medium-thick mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. reminds me a tad of KRE, but way less intense, of course. Should have been fun to try them together, perhaps, but my KRE has been drank years ago. Great beer, it was, and so is this one, even though less intense. It held up quite nicely, against all odds. Not sure if still in production ( or will be ) but this is one to grab a bottle of, if you have the chance.

750mL bottle from Bucket Boys, Sydney. 2015 vintage Pours a red-stained bronze body with pink tinged head. Stacks of ripe raspberry on the nose. Has that kind of spicy/estery Belgian yeast character in there. Big body, thick, moderate carbonation, smooth, slightly silky, was expecting some tartness from raspberries - there is none. Sweet sweet raspberries on the body; lots of them! Sort of almost port-like at times, Get a spiciness to finish, not overly complex to be honest. A dessert beer for sure - 750mL is a fair effort to get through!

A very nice fruit beer. I wanted to compare this to New Glarus’ rapsberry tart, but this is more tart. Pale red, light pink head, slick mouthfeel. Very nice. Tried at Omaha’s Extreme Beerfest with Jess and the parents in 2017.

2015 bottle, I’ll get another one to cellar. Ruddy red-brown pour with just a ring of off-white left. Aroma is raspberry and raspberries. Mouth-watering. Flavor is just delicious with raspberry dominating a just-sweet-enough tangy and slightly tart. Really smooth, no trace of booze, and not cloying. One of the best fruit beers I’ve tried. Shame on me for passing it by so many times without trying.

Bottle from Wegman’s Mechanicsburg. Pours deep ruby red with a thick white head. Lots of lacing in the glass. Fairly muted raspberry on the nose. Huge raspberry on the tongue with just a hint of tartness. Hides it’s booze really well. Imagine Lindeman’s Framboise with 3 times the alcohol and you’re pretty close. I suspect it Ages nicely as well.

Hanoi (974) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2016 Bottle, 2015. Nose is pronounced raspberry, strawberry, almond, marzipan. Taste is very sweet marzipan, raspberry, lactose, cheese cake, vanilla, cough medicine, yeast, slight tartness. Mouthfeel is oily. This beer was 2015 consumed in late 2016d, and had no real hop profile, which I suspect my have been deleterious. Well put together and didn?t taste like fruit juice, but I can?t see myself ever drinking it again, too sweet for me.

Labeled as 2015 edition.
In short: artificial like fruit beer.
Pours hazy reddish with nice off white head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Raspberries, sweet, cloying nose. Medium body, average caronation, oily texture. Taste is berries, sweet, quite artificial flavours.
