Beautiful beer, with slight and very quickly disappearing head. Black as night. First alcohol, and then quickly chocolate and slight oatmeal, and as it sets there a bit i think it softens and tingles my buds a touch, then it rolls through my mouth and slides gently down. I dont think i could ever turn a glass of this down

Pours a thick dark brown. Tan head that fades to a thick lace. Mild aroma of caramel, fruit, and roast malt. Sweet malty coffee chocolate taste. Low carbonation. Very smooth. At first you get a full body feel, but the it quickly goes to a medium body, hard to explain. Dry coffee finish. This is really good stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2013 received in trade from foppa78 THANKYOU. been wanting to try for a long time.. first beer tonight; will update after second one. actually I didnt find much aroma?? GREAT coffe and malt flavor; extreeeemly smooth (ahhh oats). did have a little acidic type burn afterward (didnt taste the alcohol) but maybe thats what it was. gave perfect scores for appearance and palate. will update after 2nd.... 11/13/2010 had a second one - aged about a year.. dammn thats good; slight bump up - still not much aroma but great complex flavor - whole lotta coffe happenin; little bit of chocolate; some alcohol burn taste at end. and the oats keep it all smooth. Alaskan stout and this are neck and neck!! want more! 02/13 re-rate; bottle aged 1-2 years. better aroma than I remember - I get dark chocolate powder. all else applies, get some coffee and acidity on back end. IT IS A CLASSIC!!

About as close to pitch black as possible with a light brown head. Strong sweet coffee, chocolate, and burnt malt aroma. Delicious savory coffee and chocolate oatmeal flavor. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Nice big stout, but not overwhelming, so its still easy to drink. I would love to find this one again.

Opaque brown with dense coffee head. Aroma of lots of coffee, a little dark chocolate, and a savory oatmeal. Nice and thick and velvety on the feel. Very nice, warm and savory flavor dominated by coffee, dark chocolate, and salty oats. Very big robust flavor, but still easy to drink. Not overpowering like most imperials. Very filling, but doesnt taste like 8%. Great stout.

Black color with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is dominated by coffee beans and dark chocolate. Theres also hints of liquorice. Flavour is really coffee dominated with some nice notes of dark chocolate and liquorice. More of a mediumbodied imperial stout with nice soft carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Really enjoyable as with most coffee stouts even though this (and most of them) tend to be a bit one-dimensional. I enjoy it a lot though.

Im kind of tired of these big, coffee-infused imperial stouts, but I gotta admit that this one is a great take on the style. Its better than, say, Mikkellers BGBW and Peche Mortel, hands down. Taste contains a great deal of dark chocolate, snuff, coffee, roasted malts and liquorish, without becoming too overwhelming or unbalanced. A great sipper if one is in the mood for this kind of beer.

Having this stout on tap at Pauls Place in Kankakee, Il. This beer is as black as it gets. It was poured into a pint glass. This beer has a strong coffee smell to it. It taste amazing. Right away I taste the robust coffee flavor then followed by the chocolate and finishing off with a slight taste of oats. This beer is thick and feels great in the mouth. Ive had the bottled version of this beer, but I prefer it on tap. Even after the beer is gone you are left with a pleasant taste in the mouth.
