UPDATED: AUG 19, 2010 On-tap @ The Rotten Apple in Grafton, IL. Poured into a pint glass. A - Black with a cream-colored head which vanishes leaving some lacing along the sides of the glass. S - Lots of dark chocolate, coffee/expresso, oats, nuts. Really melds together well and is very pleasing. T - Like dessert. Chocolate, coffee, expresso, roasted nuts, oatmeal, creamy sweetness. M - Nice and rich. Medium-full in body. Little to no carbonation. D - This is a great stout that I really love. A must-try!

The beer is heavy with flavors of coffee, oat flakes, and cinnamon. The head is a reddish brown color. The hops bitterness and coffee bitterness blend and balance very well. The nose of the beer is the "best part of waking up...with a breakfast stout in your cup!"

Wow, had this on draft at the Blue Monkey Tavern, Im not a coffee drinker but this stout is truly amazing. A nose of deep, dark roasted coffee, an unctuous mouthfeel and lingering finish. A keeper.

On tap at Yogis. Poured black with a brown head that laces beautifully. Aroma is full of coffee notes with an undertone of chocolate. Flavor is overwhelmingly full of coffee notes. I understand this is what the beer is going for, but still it is overwhelming.

Bottle - Pours black. Huge dark tan head that lasts forever. Unbelievable aroma of strong black coffee. Taste of coffee, bitter chocolate, and malt. Strong lacing. Serious bitter mouthfeel. Overall a tremendous beer. Sets the standard for stouts.

Dark, dark, dark and delicious. Poured with a thick dark tan head that held pretty well. Aroma was somewhat lacking compared to the taste. The malty, coffee flavor backed up with bitter chocolate undertones are just superb. The palate is simply your morning coffee. Definitely rich coffee flavors and malty chocolate. It kills me to say this, but the best part of the beer was after I had finished it and the last little bit had started to crystalize at the bottom. The smell was spectacular! Awesome beer

Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. You get aromas of chocolate and coffee, but the coffee is the dominant nose. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor lasts and the coffee stays with you for a while. Very nice stout.

Thanks Strykzone for this superb beer. From a 12 oz bottle this poured inky black with a fat tan head that lasted a very long time and left very thick lacking rings. The nose is very rich with roasted malts giving aromas of chocolate, rip fruits and coffee. Lots of coffee. About as smooth and rich a mouthfeel as you can imagine, Flavors are dominated by the coffee, but there is still good balance leading up to a long dry bitter finish. Fantastic stuff.

12 oz. pours like kahlua with some carbonation. Small tan head. Good carbonation takes away from some of the bite, but the chocolate and coffee are what really dominate. This could be a little sweeter, but works wel just as it is. I can see why it is rated so highly. I actually did drink it for breakfast and boy was that a great way to start my Sunday. I think next time Ill drink it alongside a nice steak or maybe with some chocolates. Good stuff!
