A: Thick black body capped by a tight khaki head. good retention and lacing down the glass.
S: Yum. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, maybe a bit of molasses and of course, maple syrup. You can feel the rich sweetness coming off this guy. A hint of booze.
T: Dense, boozey sweetness. Lots of maple syrup coating the chocolate and coffee flavors. Hearty. Breakfast like. Roasted and toasted sweet malts.
M: Thick. Sweet. Massive body. Clean flavors throughout.
O: Woah. When I finished it screamed "Well that was damn good, now get me a glass of water."

Tap at Barcade, 24th Street, NYC. 2014 vintage. Pours pitch black, tan head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, very sweet, syrup. Flavor is sweet syrup, bourbon, vanilla, toffee. Very very similar to KBS just more syrupy and a bit thicker. Very good. Thrilled to finally try this one. KBS is one of my favorites. This One is a version with maple syrup. I hate the maple syrup but ok. Here is tasty!

Large, light tan head shows moderate to moderately-strong retention atop a dark cocoa-ebony body of undetermined clarity.
Spicy, peppery phenols from the maple in the nose mix with wood and coconut. Dark, rich caramel and honey notes work against the barrel spiciness/dryness with lingering acidity and a candy-like sugariness from the maple, that isn’t unpleasant. Still, it’s big and boozy though I suppose not any more so than most of its size.
Rich rum raisin, spicy bourbon and coconut are "balanced’ by caramel and toffee sweetness. Rich, soft, low carbonation and lots of sugar and booze. Not really all that different than KBS, though more acidity and candy-like character from the maple. Lots of roast on the end, as well, with wood, alcohol and spicy bourbon lingering. As with KBS and BS, a fine beer but incredibly overrated/overhyped.
At Hopishop. The legendary CBS, a variation on KBS with bourbon barrel aged maple syrup mixed into the whole, if I am correctly informed. Lacing, moussy, deep tan coloured head over an opaque jet black beer. Powerful, enticing bouquet of indeed maple syrup, warm chocolate sauce, bourbon, candied fig, soy sauce, liquorish, gravy, coffee liqueur, beef stock cubes, bayleaf, treacle. Intense flavor, kicking off with concentrated candied sweetness (date, raisin) with a thick but well-positioned beefy and soy sauce-like umami edge, softish carbo with very thick, syrupy, viscous mouthfeel, thick and deeply caramelly and chocolatey malt body with nutty accents and gentle coffeeish roastedness in the end, assisting the drying effect of woody tannins, peppery hops and heating, liqueurish but elegant alcohol, paired with liquorish- and evidently maple syrup-like spicy sweet notes going down deep into the throat. Needless to say, tasting a beer of this stature, complexity and opulence is a great pleasure, this is at least as good as KBS, though with more obvious sweetness, yet everything remains firmly in balance. The nose shows a maple forward sweetness with bourbon notes of charred wood, smoke, and vanilla. Upon warming up, these notes seem to come together like a Sriracha chili sauce.
The palate is medium bodied and smoothly carbonated. Maple forward sweetness is apparent from the beginning with bourbon in the background - vanilla, smoke, and charred wood. The maple combines with the vanilla extremely well to create a minty mouthfeel throughout the beer. Alcoholic spice is completely disguised by this minty mouthfeel.
