0.33l bottle from CrackedKettle. This one pours a cloudy golden orange body with a small sidesticking bubbly head that fills the glass as a thin film. Aroma is really fruity, lots of berries, strawberries, peach, grapefruit, pine, wood and caramel. Really nice. It has average carbonation, a tickling oily mouthfeel and it’s quite full-bodied. Flavors are really piny and bitter. Notes of caramel, grass, peaches and some grape-citrus. Everlasting pine, hoppy bitter and dry both finish and aftertaste. Really bitter without being to bitter. One helluva IPA! callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Reviewed from notes (2007).
A: Copper-amber-brown with a large cream white head that leaves some lacing behind
S: A large blast of pine and citrus hops.. pretty straight forward, but solid
T:The hops everpresent in the aroma can be found in the first blast of flavor before the softer malts leave their mark. Not much as far as bitterness goes, but there is a nice hop finish
M: Light body with lots of carbonation
O: Enjoyable and easy for a hop fan to drink...
574deadzone (1419) - North Central, Indiana, USA - AUG 18, 2011
Pours a beautiful orange with a two-finger white-head that settles slowly and leaves all kinds of awesome lacing. Aroma is very hoppy of course, but there’s a hint of caramel sweetness underneath. Taste is lots of bitter, with some sweet. Palate is medium to full with soft carbonation and a lengthy finish. Founders has recently started printing "born on" dates on their bottles, so hopefully folks will find it easier to locate fresh ones. This is a stellar IPA and should be enjoyed accordingly. jmohno (1649) - Iowa, USA - AUG 12, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2012 Brownish gold pour. Some head that barely stays. Suspecting this beer has been shelfed for some time. Pleasant very light floral sweet/malty aroma, smelling the roastymalt more as suspecting age on this.Good roasty malt taste with short bitterness and short bitterness but lingers along with some alcohol.A mellow mild citrus clean finish. Pretty well balanced with alot of roasty, dry, buisciuty malt character.Finishes with malt dryness/orange rind bitterness PrettyGood ipa ,probably not fresh, until i try a fresh one i consider a handfull of ipa’s that i enjoy more than this one.Pretty Good for now, fresher one? i have a hunch is very good. Unfortunatly im rating this as is.
Had another 3 mo. from bottleing date the hunch was right, very good.

I was disappointed in the aroma of this brew, I really didn’t get a lot. Not much of a hoppy smell, so I thought this would be another weak IPA that people rave about, but the taste did make up for it. Good hoppy start, maybe some type of citrus, well balanced, medium body, slightly bitter almost alcohol tasting finish. Solid IPA! yeffiely (20) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 9, 2011
Bouteille. Arômes puissants d’agrumes. Très belle apparence. Cuivré avec un bon col. Belle amertume en bouche avec une belle finale sèche. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - AUG 6, 2011
6 Aug 2011, bottle. rich orange w/ pink hues in the center, steady bubbles, a little hazy and perhaps some faint sediment. nose is absolutely gorgeous! sweet pink grapefruit, maybe some sweet red cherries and rose petals. some alcohol notes as well as at least moderate malt profile. med body and moderately fizzy. taste is not as great as the nose but that’s not saying anything bad, i just had higher hopes. hop flavor is like a dry field grass, or grapefruit pith. It isn’t very sweet and alcohol is a big flavor player. i like this and could drink it regularly but it could be a lot better. JStax (7123) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Poured on draft. Appearance is a translucent gold to copper with a medium white head. Aroma is a fruity, citrusy hop profile. Taste is initially a berry-esque fruitiness giving way to a citrate hop dry finish. ESBob (379) - Indiana, USA - AUG 2, 2011
12 oz bottle. Poured a nice copper hue with off white head which lasted thru the testing. Citrus and hop aroma, very classic for the style. Taste is ripe citrus with grassy notes, some floral notes present. Very good IPA.
