COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. 12 oz bottle. Lightly hazed orange amber with a big white head. Fat grapefruit rind nose and flavor, some sweet caramel. Simple and solid, it brings the hops hard, and I dig it.

On tap; deep orange color, thin head. Big grapefruit aroma. Hops (grapefruit), resins, medium bodied, a little overcarbonated. Good; I’d like to try the bottle version some time. I think I like my IPAs a little bit leaner.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased from Greenwood Spirits in Bowling Green.
Glass: Poured into a Perfect Pint from Sam Adams.
Appearance: Clear amber/orange with a two finger, bubbly white head.
Aroma: Floral and citrus hops dominate. Didn’t find much malt in the nose.
Flavor: Solid malt base with huge citrus in the finish.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation and a clean, almost slick mouthfeel.
Overall: Very good IPA. Doesn’t rank up with Two Hearted and Alesmith, but very good.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper/orange with a medium fizzy white head. Aroma pops with sweet and floral hops, orange, and grapefruit. Flavor is much the same with a nice and not too bitter finish. Finishes smooth. Very drinkable. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2009 Bottle pour. Copper color with a frothy white head that had great retention and left a strong lace on the sides of the glass. Smells like floral hops and tastes a little like grapefruit. Lots of carbonation and very filling. Solid brew.

This is an absoutely fantastic IPA! I made the discovery that is the Centennial IPA on draft at the Craft Ale House in Limerick, PA. It was so good, that I went back to the pub the next day and got a growler of it. From start to finish, this beer explodes with flavor and character. The aroma is full of hops, pine, citrus and grapefruit. The body is smooth, balanced and extremely drinkable. The flavors were absoutely outstanding, with a big hoppy note up front a delicious malty backbone. There are subtle hints of bread and caramel in the body to add balance and flavor. Other flavors include dry grapefruits, pine, grass and a little lemon. The head is off-white in color and leaves some nice lacing around the glass. The color of the beer itself is a beautiful and clear copper color. This IPA finishes spicy, hoppy and a little dry, but with some nice sweetness. This is an absoutely outstanding IPA! It’s definitely one of the best that I’ve ever sampled. I need more!
