COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Poured produced a hazy, orange-amber body, topped by a small off-white head of foam. True to it’s word, the beer is unfiltered, with flakes of sediment suspended in it’s seemingly thick liquid. Moderate lacing. Fair amount of hops and pine aroma, though not cloying, paired with an undercurrent of roasted malts. Dry, fairly well-balanced for an IPA, with a slight hint of sweetness, with extra nod to the quick diminish of the aftertaste. Notes of pine, alcohol, and bitter citrus in the palate, leading to a dry, fairly clean finish. This IPA did not stray far from it’s description and earned points with me for that reason, even though the yeasty bits give me some cause for pause. Overall, a good beer with strong character.

Bottle in my local store. Pours a copper body with 1 finger off white head. A big hoppy floral aroma with nice malty accents. Flavor is very hoppy and spicy. Some pine and grapefruit. Decent ipa.

mansquito (6435) - Nueva York, New York, USA - OCT 12, 2008
Pours a big beige head and has a coppery amber body. Really flowery and fruity aroma. Not as hoppy smelling as other IPAs and I think that is a good thing. This beer is not hop slaughter, but it still packs a moderate punch. Big flowery and fruity taste... aroma gives you a good hint. Somewhat bitter and pretty citrusy. Various discernible taste is a complex and quality IPA.

beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - OCT 9, 2008
12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a moderate off-white head that lasted through to the end of the glass and left a layer of foam with each sip. Very pleasant aroma of pine, grapefruit, and malt. The flavor is malt up front, followed by some strong pine. Nice hops bite at the finish with some dryness at the end. Well balanced and enjoyable.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear deep orange/brown with a thick, foamy, creamy off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of citrus, floral, a hint of bitter piney hops, and caramel malt. Flavor is fairly malty, nice caramel and brown sugar undertones. Nice citrusy and fruity finish. Awesome combination of malt and fruity hops. My bottle is rather malty, but in an awesome sort of way, and sweet but not too sweet because of the hops. Super easy to drink. Yum-o!

You know this brew is loaded with hops from the first smell. The hops pack quite a punch, but the malt balances things out making for a nice, easy to drink IPA. A great example of an American IPA.

12 oz bottle; Great beer. Aroma of floral hops. Hops and citrus flavor with that terrific bitter bite of an IPA. The finish outstanding as the bitterness quickly diminishes into a sweeter malt. I love IPA’s

elihapa (1553) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - SEP 28, 2008
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber-gold with a small wispy head. Aroma is heavy of grapefruit, pine, malt, and a touch of lemon. Flavor is a bit subdued given the intense bouquet of this beer. Lemon, orange peel, tart grapefruit, and a bit of balancing sweetness. This is a very, very solid IPA. If anything, the palate is not quite as crisp, nor the flavor as bold as the top IPAs I’ve had.

johntreeter (126) - Greenwood, Indiana, USA - SEP 27, 2008
12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a fluffy 2 finger off white head that laces nicely. Aroma of citrusy hops and a mildly sweet malt character. Flavor is heavy in citrus, piney, and floral hops with a balanced earthy malt middle and a somewhat complex long dry and lightly bitter finish. Med to big body, good carb, light syrupy texture, and dry feel. Fine IPA

EricE (1367) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 25, 2008
Orange-brown pour with a light tan head. Piny hop aroma - very floral and fruity with some citrus. Intense hop flavor. A bit of citrus, but mostly bitter dry hops. Good woody malt backbone. Decent IPA.
