COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

The eponymously hopped beer from Founders provides a bracing IPA flavor in the American tradition. A (presumably) single-hopped expression of an IPA, Centennial provides a palate orientation to the flavors of the hop. The approach has a cognate in the art of Piet Mondrian’s neo-plasticism. Brewing a beer with only one hop seems so simple, and yet it turns out so complex at the same time.

I use the Beer Buddy app to discover, catalog and rate beers. I used to love this app BEFORE the latest update that forces you to login and even more annoying is you are now forced to write a MINIMUM 75 CHARACTER COMMENT in order to save and upload a beer rating. In most cases I simply don't have 75 characters of comments, thus this canned response. My apologies to all beer lovers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my definite favorites. Along with Pliny Elder best beer in the world!

Copper orange with a white head. Pine, caramel malt, lightly floral. Medium bodied. Finish has decent pine bitterness with a good hunk of caramel. Nice, classic IPA.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2017 From the 12 fl. is. bottle that was bottled 11/17/17. Attractive clear orange-amber appearance with foamy off-white head. Inviting orange fruitiness on the nose with a sweet sourdough bread note. Medium or so body. The taste is a lovely orange or tangerine fruitiness with a moderate bitterness to finish. Tasty.

Floral, pine notes, beautiful copper coloured and a soft light tan head. Flavour is pine, caramel, malt. Good, but not that good.

Wow, a very deep and intense IPA this one. You can tell by the beautiful colour already, almost dark copper amber. No aroma to speak of, but the taste is majestic, the right sort of complex malty and caramel-like flavour that the better American IPAs have. One of the better ones for sure this.

355 ml. bottle @ Home. Aroma: quite intense aromas of pine, grapefruit, resin, tropical fruits, citrus. Some toasted malts and caramel in the background. Appearance: amber color with slightly off-white head. Medium to high head thickness with low to medium retention and medium Brussels' lacing. Medium hazyness. Very creamy foam. Taste: low to medium sweetness, medium bitterness, low sourness. Flavors of resin, pine, grapefruit, tropical fruits, citrus, maybe hints of orange and tangerine. Malts, toasted malts and some brown sugar and caramel in the background acting as counterpart. Very well balanced, despite its 65 IBUs, it's not noticeable as too bitter. Very complex. All the flavors are very well blended. Palate: low to medium body, oily texture, low to medium carbonation, very long dry finish with low to medium bitterness and very lingering flavors of grapefruit, resin, pine, tropical fruits and toasted and caramel malts in the background. Alcohol is only slightly noticeable through its throat warming effect. There is no astringency at all. Overall: very good appearance, aromas and flavors. Quite complex with all the flavors very well blended and balanced. Very drinkable, refreshing and thirst quenching. A very good IPA.
