You’ll have a soft spot for this one. Using only fresh Michigan tart cherries, this beauty tantalizes with intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. Adding fresh cherries at five separate stages of fermentation achieves the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness.

Light red. Aroma is sour cherries. Taste is same. Very light, somewhat sour with a strong fruit presence. Pretty good.

12 oz. bottle. Originally reviewed 11/30/2011. Amber body with a reddish tint. I expected a significantly redder color, really. It’s no Blushing Monk. No head, really, and no lacing at all. Nose is sweet malt and a bready aroma that reminds me of Strawberry Short’s Cake. The cherry isn’t apparent until the end of the smell when the other aromas fade away. Tastes much more cherry-centric, but still retains some beer-like flavors. Sweet caramel malt and, again, a bready malt. Cherry tartness builds throughout and finishes with a slight sweetness that reminds of a cherry syrup, unfortunately. Otherwise, the cherry flavor is nice. Low carbonation makes it a bit heavy and that syrupy flavor at the end adds to it. Nothing terribly impressive and not something I will be trying again.

Pours a deep goldish red color. Aromas of berries and wheat bread. Flavor of raspberry and a sweetness. Medium body with a berry aftertaste.

12 oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. 2 year old bottle. Appearance: pinkish in color. A little cloudy. small white head. Some sediment on the bottom. Aroma: Cherries, lactic acid, oak. The nose has held up better than expected. Taste: Sweet with a slightly sour undertone. Palate: Light/medium body. Soft carbonation. medium finish. Overall: Im impressed this one has kept it together. Still a decent tasting beer. Fun to drink now that its been replaced.

"the scores seem a bit low to me, but everyone likes different things. the aroma took a while to open up, but was close to matching the flavor when it did. pours a nice deep red with pink head. dusty cherry aroma at first that you had to work for, but by the end I was stickin my nose in the glass. mouthfeel was light, and quite soft. tasted oaky(?) and slightly tart cherries. Littlr sweetness, but lots o cherry. I was prepared for something pretty tame and this turned out quite nice. aroma 7.5, flavor 8.5...but the beer is worthy of a 4.0."

Transfer from BA review on 8-15-12- Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance –The beer has a vibrant hazy pinkish-red color with a just off white head. The head fades quite quickly to leave a very light level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is not as heavy in cherry as I would have expected from the look. It has a light cherry aroma with heavier sweet smells of a sugary/candy nature as well as smells of grain. Taste – The taste begins of a sweet cherry taste mixed with some malt base. As the flavor advances however the sweetness of the cherry begins to fade some and sour and tart notes come to the tongue. The maltiness however at the end seems to be accentuated and balances out the more sour flavors of cherry to leave a mellow candy semi-sweet taste on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew was rather moderate with the carbonation level being very average. Both fitting for the sweet and sour fruit tastes of the beer. Overall – It is a refreshing and easy drinking beer and although a bit sweet, it is quite nice. If a fruit beer is something you are craving, then I say go for this one, as it is rather nice.

Pour is a dark blood red with a head that has a pink hue. Nose is cherries, green vegetables, and stale cereal. Taste is a bit stronger cherry, gets a touch medicinal. Finish is slightly tart, a big syrupy body and moderate carbonation.

Nice fruity ale, red, persistent foam, notes of malts, sugars, red fruits, almond

12 oz bottle served in pint glass. (From Jan. 2011 notes). Some sediment in bottom of bottle added to last 1/3 of sample - sediment improved flavor. Pours a clear golden tone with a tinge of pink/red and a modeast off-white head. Very nice fruity (cherry) aroma. Smells like real cherry juice; not artificial. Malt backbone in background. Nice sweet/tart balance with a low level (IBU = 15) bitterness. Excellent flavor but too mild and not quite as tart as I’d like. On the other hand, the aftertaste is mainly a fruity (generic) sourness. M - medium/light body with little carbonation

Bottle. Pours a cloudy red with small pink head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is cherry skin, oak, and grain. Thin mouthfeel with light tart cherry and wheat with light tart finish, decent.
