Aroma is lactose, coffee, roasted malt, chocolate. Appearance is dark dark brown, light tan head, thinnish. Taste is sweet, lactose, milk chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, milk and coffee aftertaste. Overall, it’s good.

On draft at Founders. The pourbis a nice dark brown with some ruby shining through relatively easily. There is a light ring of off white head and a few spots of lace. The aroma is surprisingly bland. There is a light roasted malt and a strong lactose sugar. It’s a shame that these are the only two things. The sweetness drowns out the other good roasted malt and depth. The flavor is much of the same. At least the roasted malts are a little more prominent than the aroma. The lactose sugar is huge. There is a light chocolate maybe on the finish, but it’s a little messy. The mouth feel is light and watery with a hardly-there carbonation and a lingeringly sweet lactose sugar on the finish. Not my jam at all.

On tap at Founders. Black and creamy. Lots of coffee and roast comes through. Malt forward.

Tap sample. Poured a black color with a large fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy dark malt aroma. Medium to heavy dark chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a good rich beer.

Jet black beer with a large, very long-lasting white head. Sweet, creamy, and silky smooth. I’m a sucker for milk stouts.

On tap at Founders waaaaaay back in March. Just found my notes. Things you forget after a trip to a brewpub. Aroma: malt, chocolate and sweet milk. Appearance: very dark with a nice tan head. Taste: like a chocolate milkshake. Palate: medium body with a long finish. Overall: very good milk stout. I love finding these one off beers at brew pubs.

On tap at Founders Brewpub. Very dark brown with ruby lowlights and a large creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, milk sugar and sweet malt. Taste of sweet malt, chocolate, lactose and a mild roasted character. Creamy with a moderately sweet finish.
