COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Old Ale conjures up thoughts of classic sea fairing ports, there local pubs and the weathered fisherman that frequent them. In traditional style Curmudgeon is brewed with an intense focus on the malt bill creating a very strong, rich, malty characteristic and a sweetness indicative of its cousin the barleywine. We are especially proud of the balance in this beer making it deceptively smooth and drinkable at 9.8% alcohol by volume.
Editor’s Note - The 2006 bottled version has been aged in bourbon barrels.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2015 Beautiful aroma of eggnog, cinnamon, toffee, white chocolate fudge, vanilla horchata, brown sugar, old leather, and booze. The pour is deep amber with no head. The taste closely mirrors the aroma, being mostly sweet and mildly bitter, with a splash of alcohol. The finish leans dry and woody, with a slight oaky tartness that dies slowly. Syrupy palate with minor, prickly carbonation. Balanced, flavorful, substantial. Perfect for a winter evening by the fireplace. Oh, Founders, how I love you. Lovely!

Swietnie ukryty alkohol, ciekawe piwo w niepopularnym stylu, do degustacji dla poszukiwaczy zaginionej warki.

I’m normally an IPA guy, but this is a very enjoyable beer. Definitely heavy on the malt and has an early sweetness and a very smooth finish. Does not drink like a 9.2% ABV ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber pour with small, beige head. Caramely malts, whiskey, oak and dried plums jump in the nose. Taste is malty and sweet, with slightly smoked whiskey upfront, followed by medium sweet molasses, raisins, vanilla and dried dark fruits. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation level. A bit too centered in profile on the malty sweetness, with no particular complexity beyond.

Nice head, quite dark. Aroma: carmelish, woody, chocolate , bit like tmave. Full body, sweet, lots of wood.

Pours a cloudy caramel color with a full, thick, off white head. Whiskey and oak jump out from the nose, while earthy malt, molasses, and light toffee are found as well. The taste is sweet, though not overly so. Whiskey dominates all flavors here. As the bottle boasts, secondary impressions are molasses and oak. Its still earthy, but I find much more floral elements than earthiness. Vanilla and raisin round this one out. Whiskey finish. Medium in body, thick in texture, and more soft in carbonation. I like whiskey and I like the taste of whiskey in beer. But as this is the main theme, I don't think enough was done to curb the big whiskey taste that this one pushes.

Barwa brązowa, piana średnia. Aromat karmel, skórka od chleba, winogrona, drewno i lekka wanilia. W smaku przypieczony chleb, toffi, melasa, czerwone owoce i dębina. Jest delikatna wanilia od beczki. Pifko wytrawne, alko totalnie niewyczuwalne. Bardzo dobre pifko.
