4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
I remember this beer being hophead perfection, and it did not quite live up to that. Its defining feature is its wonderful throat coating acidic bitterness. The piney hop burn just lingers forever. So if you are a for realz hophead, this has to be tried, peroid. It seems like every brewery uses the "must try for hophead" gimmick for whatever their dipa is, but this one is the real deal. If you always find yourself wishing the dipa your drinking had just a little more hops this will be your beer. With that said, despite how awesome this beer is going down the throat, at least this time it really didnt do much on the tongue. It had a nondescript hoppy flatness to it while in the mouth. Before I drank it, I was all set to give it my first perfect rating, but a perfect beer needs to be dynamic at all stages.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355ml bottle, bottled 02 May 16. Slighty hazy red amber with small yellowish head. Big tropical fruity hop aromas, caramel, some booze evident. The taste is certainly not subtle - a sledgehammer of grapefruit, pine, pineapple, apricot hoppiness, huge caramel and toasted bread maltiness, heady alcohol, long grassy bitterness. Fairly full bodied, relatively moderate carbonation. A titan of a beer in just about every way, but masterfully balanced. Simply fantastic.

Cerveza servida en Olut (Sabadell) en botella, muy sabrosa y presente, aunque, personalmente, le sobra graduación.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle - pours a slightly murky amber orangey color with a med off white head. Massive aroma of fruit (mango, peach, melon, pineapple and grapefruit) and sweet caramel. Flavors of intense malt and gigantic hops meld to make this monster. A little boozy with a long bittersweet aftertaste. Whoa

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours reddish amber with tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet malty hops with a hoppy piney finish. Pretty good but a little to much malt for my personal preference.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Scent of apricot, white grape, pineapple, wet grass and buttery biscuits. Traditional hop pineyness is in there too, but faint. Pours red amber with a finger of creamy tan head with nice retention and lacing. Clarity is nice with plenty of carbonation bubbling up from the bottom of the glass making for a very inviting looking beer. Opens rich and malty with a definite buttery quality restrained by big hoppy bitterness that lets you know this one isn’t fooling around. Malt and hop flavors continue to assert themselves powerfully against eachothers influence though mid-palate and into the long finish, with fleeting suggestions of pineapple here and there and just the slightest hint of an alcoholic kick at the end, concealing that 12% ABV really well. Mouthfeel is surprisingly heavy, solidly medium- approaching full-bodied territory with its unique conbination of maltiness and IBUs. Astringent in the usual manner of hoppy beers. A rock solid Imperial IPA. Flavor profile is simple and straightforward but well chosen and expertly balanced making for a strong but satisfying drinking experience, even for timid IPA drinkers like myself. Founders really knows how to make a beer. Cheers!
