Tap: Stained mahogany color with slight ruby hints as the light passes through... Nice clarity for such a dark beer, topped with a frothy, off-white head that has great staying power & leaves nice lacing behind. Aroma is very quiet, muddled, soft. Slight grains, steel tinted caramel notes, a bit of crystal-like malt sweetness, a touch of nuts, & mild cocoa powder. Very timid & almost too relaxed. Taste isnít exactly amplified much, either. More nutty... notes of woodiness & toasted nuts. Light cocoa powdery sweetness, caramel malt, a mildly metallic aftertaste with a touch of earthy hop bitterness. Even for brown ales, this one was kind of "safe". Easy drinking, sure, but also quite forgettable.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7619) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Sampled from a growler this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a small foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was a bit toasty and woody and was lacking any depth or much substance. The flavor was thin and watery with hints of wood and smoke - again lacing depth. Short woody and smoky finish. Thin and watery body. Disappointing.
