Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

It’s dark, red amber with a creamy, golden head and the aroma has loads of malt, caramel, light candy-sugar, licorice and fruits. The flavour is sweet with heavily malted notes of caramel, candy-sugar, licorice, alcohol and fruit, and the finish is dry with a light bitterness.

Dark, viscous looking reddish brown pour with a thin cappuccino head. Loads of sweet malt aroma. Chocolate, caramel. It’s faint, but I think I’m getting just a trace of hops. Hits your mouth almost like an imperial stout. Full body coats your mouth with roasted malt flavor. The vague smoky profile becomes a little more evident after a few sips. Nice bitter finish that stays for about 10 seconds.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a hazy, deep mahogany brown body with a creamy, medium off-white head. Aroma is smooth, deep toffee and caramel, with some vanilla and hints of chocolate and berries in the back. Taste is as smooth as the mouthfeel; a pure toffee pleasure trip gently streaming down my throat. This is good. A regular malt-fest going on here; some toffee, some sweet caramel appearing mid-palate and some roastiness towards the end. Very pleasant drinking, and though the alcohol is warming it is still very well integrated. A pleasure to drink, and the excellently crafted, creamy mouthfeel makes for EITHER a sipper or a faster-drinking beer. This is one dirty bastard ye jees gottu luv! :-D

Notes from Wednesday, September 15 2010 Ar: Caramel, dried fruit, malt. Ap: Pours a deep brown-red with a 1/2" light cinnamon head that fades quickly and leaves little lace. F: Very complex up front - dried figs, smoke, and a bit of chocolate. It finishes with a bourbon-like bite. However, I find the sweetness to be a bit cloying, even with the hop bitterness on the finish. P: Thick, chewy body with semi-high carbonation. O: Not a style I have that often, but this is quite good.

Thanks to Tony from OTH for the share. Pours deep amber-brown with a white head. Nose is malt, maple, sweetness, slight raisin, and brown sugar. Flavor is similar with maple, dark malt, and a clean finish. Very enjoyable scotch ale.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep dark amber color with a frothy tan head. Aroma is like a malt bomb filled with sweet, bready and caramelly malts, i also get some dark fruit and a slight hint of wood. Flavor is of the sweet, bready and caramelly malts along with alot of dark fruit and wood. I also get some alcohol and a slight amount of roast. The body is medium to full with a sliky smooth mouthfeel. Overall a really nice beer from Founders, its a real Autumn beer!
