COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer aint fer the wee lads

from Erzbierschof - cloudy ruby-brown colour with no head left; solid aroma of prune and caramel, a fair piney hop presence; full-bodied and gently sticky, a sweet and solid malt backbone, a respectable bitterness before a long aftertaste of dark fruits, piney hops and licorice

Poured from bottle, pours very dark ruby/red color, has aroma of malt and booze to it, a little alcohol to the finish of it but this is one fine brew from Founders.

Bottle - from sampler pack. Dark copper color - barely translucent. Very little aroma. Taste is really good - very malty with some roastiness and a bit of peat smoke.

Can smell the high alcohol - nice ruby read appearance. Very smooth tasting for an 8.3 beer, but a metallic finish. Very good, but not Founders best (Porter and Red Rye).

Draft at Founders during RBSG. Pours ruby red, thin white head, poor lacing. Nose is caramel, brandy beans, fruit. Flavours are chocolate, brandy, spice, toffee. Solid.

Bottle pours dark brown color with brief tan head. Malty aroma with a little alcohol. Taste molasses, caramel, malts. Palate medium and smooth. Long mildly hoppy finish, A little too bitter to be pleasant. Not bad, was hoping for a little better from Founders.

A good beer, nothing outstandingly special about it, but it does the trick (at 8.3& alc. it should).

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2015 Cloudy dark reddish-brown. Aroma was semi-sweet, caramel malts and fruit. Flavor is malty, sweet and smoky with a touch of hops tang for balance. Hides the alcohol very well. Full and round with a clean and smooth finish.

Sampled at American Craft Beer Fest 2010. Pours ruby brown with a tan head. Aroma mainly of malts, but some hints of hops and coffee as well. A nice coffee finish on this beer. Thick texture, very good. Definitely worth trying.

Sweet caramel and malt aroma, with a bit of pine and smoke. Pour is dark brown with a bit of red. Small tan head that didnt stick around. Taste of sweet molasses with maybe a bit of vanilla and a bit of smoke. Earthy and grassy malts finish. Love the finish on this one. Love me some Scottish Ale, and this is a nice example.
