Very solid offering from Founders. Definitely has a raisin-like undertone. Didn’t get any skunk in the flavor, but wonderfully complex. Makes me happy. ansermadide (1526) - Kyle, Texas, USA - SEP 20, 2010
Sampled at the Great American Beer Festival on September 16, 2010. Glowing, translucent brown body with a fine light-brown head. Aroma is... at first hard to describe, but very good - great, even. Malty, but lightly and sweet. It has a really wet mouth feel. Flavor isn’t all that - it’s actually very, very light and smooth and very punchy on the palate. There is some aluminum-like bitterness in the back. hoosiers1994 (684) - Maryland, USA - SEP 18, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 Aromas of alcohol, toffee, and bread. Color is a cloudy dark red with a nice tan head. A really nice looking beer. Taste is very malty...complex with alcohol noted up front, and cocoa and toffee coming in later on. A dense palate with a heavy body. Very nice long finish that keeps changing. This is a very nice, complex brew. Love it. HenrikSoegaard (14176) - Randers, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2010
Bottle. Frothy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red-amber colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Prune and plumb notes. Heavy bitter very nice flavor. Long spicey great finish. Creamy palate. Really nice beer. jdskinns (220) - South Roxana, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2010
Bottle. Pours a murky brown color with a tan head that quickly disappears. Aroma is caramel, sweet, and a little bit of a roasty character. Taste follows the aroma with a little bit of a bready aspect that doesn’t come through on the nose.

Deep, dark red pour with a medium foamy brown head. Aroma is caramel, sugars, bread, very sticky. Flavor is brown sugar, bread, sugar, caramel. Nice thick mouthfeel. weitz15 (585) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 10, 2010
Brown pour, thin white head. Remarkable aroma of scotch which is also mildly present in the flavor. Also present was a combo of hops, spices, and caramel. Mild carbonation, medium body. Block (2727) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - SEP 9, 2010
Dark red brown pour. Brown head. Sweet aroma of caramel and spice. Flavor is complex. Starts bitter and alcoholic and finishes sweet with a hint of chocolate. EinStein (52) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Poured into a snifter from a bottle. Aroma is malty with some dark fruits. Taste is fairly bready with some nice fruits and sweetness. Full-bodies, goes down really smooth. A very good brew! sethdude (706) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Mmmm. Pours red with a tan head, aroma of cookie dough,, vanilla, distant scotch or bourbon, and a twinge of alcohol. Flavor is inially very warm, toast, molasses, wood esters, black pepper, and tobacco, followed by a bit of earthiness. Very good.
