Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer aint fer the wee lads

Distinguished by a rich, full body with sufficient hops to balance its malty sweetness. I like this beer ... alot.

Bottle. 12 oz. Split with Vinny. Pours deep amber ruby with a thin, silky off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, malt, scotch, roasted barley, rye, and hints of raisins. Body is mild, approachable and tasty; palate is warm and smooth. Finishes with a classic bit of scotch warming. Great scotch ale.

Nice scotch ale that isnt overly smokey, but will still remind you which style it belongs to. I felt like the alcohol was presented a bit too strongly, but thats not too major a problem. Overall, a good scotch ale, but there are others Id rather be drinking, most notably the Dark Horse Scotty Karate.

Pours ruby red with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, and hints of dark fruits. Flavor is nice caramel, slightly nutty malty flavor, with a little bit of smoke, metal, and a slight bitterness that balances out the malty sweetness. Good stuff.

(Bottled) Hazy dark ruby color with a small, but firm and reasonably lasting, creamy and lacy head. Very nice, grainy-malty, soft and sweetish aroma with lots of dried fruit and some strawberries. Flavor is berryish, sweet and dark-fruity with a tiniest ashy roastiness underneath. Quite full-bodied, very smooth and creamy palate. A beautifully balanced and enjoyable Scotch Ale.

On tap at the bierstube in Moline Iowa. Pours reddish light brown with a very thick off-white head. A butterscotch aroma. Great lacing. This beer is super thick, like drinking a glass of pancake syrup. At first I thought I could smell a bit of diacetyl, but I think its just an intense caramel aroma. Anything this big oughta have a stewardess on it serving drinks.

Founders proves that the West Coast doesnt have a lock on great beers. On the pour, a hazy reddish amber hue glows from the pint when lit. While a weak aroma is present, Im sure it will improve with some warmth. Now down to business! Sweet Jesus, theres a lot of malt in here. Sweet and a little smokey up front followed by a great hop bite with hints of peat and booze. A very nice thick smooth palate akin to finer stouts. To the Brewers at Founders, cheers and thank you!

Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a medium head. Lots of sweet malt, floral hops in both the aroma and flavor. Maybe some peat as well, but that might just be the influence of the alcohol and the "Scotch" in the name. A tasty ale.
