Poured into a snifter from a bottle. Aroma is malty with some dark fruits. Taste is fairly bready with some nice fruits and sweetness. Full-bodies, goes down really smooth. A very good brew! sethdude (708) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Mmmm. Pours red with a tan head, aroma of cookie dough,, vanilla, distant scotch or bourbon, and a twinge of alcohol. Flavor is inially very warm, toast, molasses, wood esters, black pepper, and tobacco, followed by a bit of earthiness. Very good. rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Had tried all Lunar beers on tap at Lunar Brewing Company that day so on to the guest taps. Strong, rich, bold. Smoky, peaty, and malty. Tasty. Serving: Tap chrisv10 (18497) - DENMARK - SEP 6, 2010
355 ml bottle from Voldby. Dark brown/ruby with tiny off-white head. Flavour is caramel, fruit, alcohol, sweet and nuts. MaBeer1972 (2164) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 4, 2010
This is quite a heavy bodied deep reddish brown brew. On the sweet side in aroma and flavor with all of those malts. However, the alcohol is certainly held in check by the sweetness. I would have liked a bit more smoke on the back side. I wish I had some smoky cheese or oysters to go with this.

On tap at the University Roadhouse. Deep dark brew, sweet aroma with dark fruit and malty overtones. Taste is sweet, dominated iby malt, molassas and dark figgy fruit overtones, more than a little bitter and sour hoppiness in the finish, but the overall impression remains that of sweetness. An ethanol whooze in the after taste and ethanolic sweetness ala malt liquor permeate the flavor. Very satisfying palate and mouthfeel. very nice brew on the first cool day of late summer, would be great to warm up with after a long winter’s day outdoors. paultheguru (662) - Parker, Colorado, USA - AUG 30, 2010

Draught @ Churchkey - Pours dark, dark, dark, with a thick and creamy head that persists and laces the glass. Fantastic aroma of breadk, chocollate, coffee.Sweet and malty with a hint of bitterness. classic Scotch Ale. Founders is fantastic. nwiseman (204) - Norwich, Connecticut, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Bottle from VBS. Deep brown ruby color with a pale foamy white head. Aroma has some hints of scotch with a little chocolate and some hops. Some interesting funk mellows out into a sweet roastiness that lingers. A little rough on the palate. I’m a big fan of this beer. Everything I want out of a scotch ale.
