Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2018 ABV - 8.5 IBU - 50 .Appearance: Dark ruby, head is off white. Looks fantastic. .Aroma: You can smell it as soon as it is was poured into the glass. Scotch booziness, roasted malt, caramel, cherry, dark fruit, vanilla. Wow. .Taste: Upfront - roasted malt, well rounded sweet fruitiness. Notes of cherry, vanilla, fig, raisin, caramel coming through. Somewhat alcoholic - scotch barrel booziness. A very noticeable bitterness towards the end of the sip - balancing out the sweetness. Warming. .Mouthfeel: Sticky, creamy, rich, medium body, spot on carbonation - giving off a slight 'zing.' Very easy drinking. .Overall: A. .Bottom Line: To start - Beautiful in the glass. Aroma and flavor are just outstanding. Be prepared for a big, powerful, delicious malt bill. Top notch scotch ale.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018 Pours a very dark ruby color. Scotch and oak taste with sight brown sugar and raisin notes. Not too boozy or overpowering for a strong scotch ale. Great standard Scotch ale.

March 21st, 2015 - Sassily named like San Diego's foundational Stone beers, Founder's Dirty Bastard is a chewy, salty thing. With a black dark body and a deep, malty nose, it offers little hints at first about the flavor profile. But that flavor is lovely and dark, rich with veins of licorice and soy sauce. More impressive than these, though, is the balance between the body and flavor, which are brilliantly engineered to match.

Rozpuszczona landryna, obrzydliwstwo.

Textura oleosa. Aroma a caramelo, melaza, lúpulo herbal y alcohol. En boca hay caramelo, melaza, toques herbales, dark fruits y alcohol. No es abiertamente dulce. Amargor final moderado pero presente. Postgusto alcohólico y a caramelo. No entiendo qué hace en un top 50 de Scotch Ales. A partir del primer trago no tiene nada que decir.

Pours dark brown with a creamy head which regenerates easily with a good swirl. Aroma of malts, peat, lots of alcohol and something almost disgusting like... Vomit!? Not too sweet, hoppy long lasting finish, but cloying. Very nice to the palate, full body, creamy and thick. I really struggled to finish this though.

29-12-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their December 2017 discovery box). The beer looks very nice. The colour of the beer is a very nice coppery brown, with a nice ruby red glow. The beer is quite clear. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of light brown soft foam. Foam retention is average. A nice thick creamy drape and some lacing are left on the glass. Very nice. The smell of the beer is also very nice. It is not extremely strong though. There are some nice malt aromas, with some touches of caramel and toffee. I also smell a nice touch of fruity hops, also a bit earthy. They are a nice match for the malts. There is a tiny smoked touch. This gives a nice savoury edge to the smell. Quite nice, and also special. I don't know many beers like this. The taste of the beer is very nice. It is a lovely sweet beer. I taste sweet malts, a touch of liquorice, smoke, peat, toffee and caramel, but also loads of red fruits and some tropical fruit. The hops give a nice earthy and slightly zesty bitterness. Yeast gives a nice fruity and slightly creamy note. Typical top fermented yeast flavour, which is nice. The beer is perfectly balanced. Nice. The palate of the beer is nice. Medium-full body, smooth and slightly creamy texture, not to heavy, and medium-high carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice. It has a nice alcohol warmth, alcohol flavour, fruits and some lovely hoppy bitters. All in all, a lovely beer. They can be proud to have this as their flagship.
