Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Drank in pilsner poured from 12 oz bottle. Smells more like rye beer than the red rey from founders. Can smell the alcohol. Appearance- dark auburn color with no carbonation or head. Taste - lots of yeast and malt flavors. Almost like beer drenched bread. Its ok. Not my favorite beer. Somewhat like an amber ale. Palate- poor mouthfeel. Get the heat and barf flavor. Not a fan. Overall- its ok. Will not drink again but still better than expected from a scotch drink.

Bottle, 355mL. Home. A very dark brown sparkling beer with a medium off-white head ; medium retention, average lacing. Caramel, roast, licorice, dried fruits. Medium round sweet warming, light to medium dry bitter. Good body, light to medium oily texture, soft carbonation, sweet caramel warming dry lasting finish. Overall, very good, great !

Bottle. Pours a luminous ruby brown with a large sticky beige head that dissipates to a clumpy film. Substantial lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel malt, a bit of toffee and dark fruit. Flavors are toffee, dark fruit, cocoa, toasted bread, earthy hops and bit of smokiness. Rich and full bodied. Noticeable alcohol warmth. Somewhat peppery mouthfeel, but otherwise, creamy. Wonderfully complex. There’s nothing to complain about with this one.

Unique smokey peat aroma with caramel and malt taste and finishes with a kick of hoppy bitterness. One of the best scotch ales.

Taste is medium sweet and medium- bitter, caramel, bread, raisin, light smoke, dried fruits, plum. Bitter finish with notes of burnt caramel, dark fruits. Medium+ body, soft to average carbonation. Quite rich and tasty.

On tap at Hippo Glasgow. Dark red/brown beer, off-white head. Light malty, fruit scent. Taste is rich malt, apple, citrus, dried fruit, toffee. Light, tangy aftertaste that gets a bit sickly as you go through it. The taste of alcohol is more than I’d like but otherwise it’s nice.

Not many 12 oz bottles can be pleasurably consumed over a one-hour period. Dirty Bastard though was made for such a session. Complex, hearty, delicious & with enough bitterness to keep things interesting.
