Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Amazing, complicated smell, great red color, redish brown with a nutty colored head. Great bitterish flavor. Of the scotch ales i have tried lately, this one is the top for me. Amazing.

Bottle. Pours dark ruby with thin head. Aroma of berries. Strong alcohol sweeps into the nostrils upon first sip. Taste of malt and some licorice. Smoke evident. Delicious offering and another winner from Founders.

Aromas of caramel, peat, cocoa, subtle booze, and hints of hops. Appearance is ruby-brown with very little head. Taste is somewhat sweet, lightly bitter, and lightly boozy. A rich, full-bodied beer, with moderate carbonation and a long warming finish.

WOW!! I love this beer. It pours really easy. Not much head and it dissipates quickly. Clear brown color and the taste is amazing. I get the scotch right away and it makes me happy. The finish is just a tiny bit funky, but I attribute that to my lack of appreciation of ales in general. This beer just makes me happy. Also, try this one if you like bourbon barrel beers!

One of the best scotch ales i have had. Malty, full body, but very smooth, you will not realize it is 8+%. Gets better as it warms a bit.

This beer had everything you want from a scotch ale. Think, smoky a bit of hops and a nice kick. Love it

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2012 Draft at Jerry’s. Clear dark mahogany with good, creamy, tan head / Sweet, rich nose of toffee, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit / Medium to full body, chewy, sweet & syrupy but with excellent hopping, and good bitterness, and some heat, on the long finish / Rich, complex flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, nut, and peet / One of the greats.

Very malty scotch-style ale with a medium brown to amber hue. I love the body on this beer, it has a bit of thickness to it. Very smooth on the palate with a nice aroma. If you do not like malty, thicker brews, you probably would not like this. Found all over, if a pub has this beer available, I will default to it if there are no other beers of interest available (malty, darks, stouts, porters, or browns). This could be an everyday beer for me (if I drank everyday).
