Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer aint fer the wee lads

Bottle. The pour was a murky medium brown with a copper hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown rocky head that dissipated quickly but left a thin layer of foam that created some fair lacing. The aroma was a bit on the sweet side with roasted bread malts, an herbal hop and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of raisons, molasses and a mild alcohol scent. The taste was sweet and malty with a hint of molasses in the beginning and finished a bit bitter, with a touch of raisons and a mild alcohol tinge at the end that left the flavor to linger for a nice long while. Mouthfeel was somewhere between medium and full in body and was rather dry in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall an extremely tasty brew with the alcohol flavor kept to a minimum, yet still allowing for a nice warming sensation after the swallow.

10th Feb 2017: Third beer on my first flight at Devilicious, Temecula California. Another highly rated beer new to me and my sweet tooth loved it. Mahogany body, off-white head. Malty, heavy and lovely. Malty molasses rule this semi-sweet Scotch Ale, some fruity notes calm the sweetness down and the hops try to balance the brew out (but fail).

Of a beer style that I rarely tested but repeti whenever possible. The only thing I miss is the density of water. I like beer with water denser and heavier

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is rich malts, caramel, toffee, touch of butterscotch and chocolate. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium to full. Very robust sweet malt-heavy brew with a firm body, well-balanced stuff. Quite satisfactory.

Nice dark brown/red color. Smells of dark candy, earth, malt, caramel, molasses... not overly sweet, but sweetness is there. complex. Tastes of metallic notes, malt, grain, molasses... but quite neutral, a tad bitter.. a touch of alcohol. Its not bad, more like a strong brown ale than a scotch ale.
