Draft from Tyler’s in Durham. Nice and dark pour with beige head. Nose offers chocolate, resiny hops, roast and citrus. Similar taste, with a good balance between hops and malt. Full but not overly thick palate. I want more. emacgee (4676) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - AUG 10, 2010
Draft pour from Tylers Durham, thanks Turd for sharing. Pours a very dark black with light on the edges and a one finger cardboard tan head. The nose shows coffee and chocolate, some burnt sugar, citrusy and resinous hop character. Flavor is chocolaty with hints of roast and a sweet and citrusy hop character, coffee. Palate is roasty with a medium grain and hop bitterness. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2010
Draught at tylers in durham. I really enjoyed this brew. It smelled and tasted akin to a pot brownie. Would love to drink some more of this. Yum.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, sour citrus and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bitter finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Draft at Revolution. Well, this is a weird beer. It is a black IPA, which isn’t inherently odd. Pours black with a pale tan head. Nose is pears and passionfruit, light roast and a weird sweet and fruity note as well. On taste, the dark notes are great, though the hop choice is suspect. I’m not sure what was used, maybe citra? Whatever it is, I’d go back to the drawing board re: hops. But other than that, it’s a definitely well made and the dark notes bring it together. Overall, very interesting and tasty. Tulip guest draft on tap at Revolution (Chicago, IL). Pours a very dark blackish brown, near opaque, a nice frothy light brown head.. Almost tan. Laces very well. Aromas are roasty malts and dark chocolate, a touch of coffee, creamy sweetness dies beneath. a nice citrusy and floral hop body, a great aroma. Initial is pretty well hopped, citrusy grapefruit, lemon rind, florals with a good roasted malt body, cocoa, coffee, a decent creaminess beneath. This beer has it, the roast and fresh hops, citrus and cocoa. Really nice clashing flavors, good hops with a good roast, a bit of cocoa and roast grows stronger, bitter on the backend, synergy with fresh pacific northwest hops on of citrus, florals, dry. Very nice Black IPA.. Kudos to Founders! pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 30, 2010
On tap at revolution... Pours a dark cola brown pour with lighter edges and a very light beige head...aroma of nice roasted malt and a citrusy piney hop component... Flavors are def hoppy on the citrus side with an accompanying dark roasted component qnd q slight hop bitterness in the finish. Good body and carbonation for the style. pauls_parade (340) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 25, 2010
10z tulip at Graydon’s Crossing in Grand Rapids. Black with a quarter-inch head that quickly dissipates but leaves a little lacing. Floral and citrus hops in the nose and a little roasted and chocolate malt. The palate is light-medium in body, medium carbonation with a long-lasting finish. Nicely balanced between a light chocolate malt sweetness and a medium citrus hops bitterness. A really nice IPA. Well balanced and the roasted malt added a pleasing complexity. Good brew.
