This liquid dream pours a hazy golden orange straw color with a large puffy white two-finger head. First sip of this beer rewards with a super juicy hop presence bursting with fresh orange and lemon citrus then continues to introduce toasted malt undertones.

I will have to get some fresh, but man, all I could taste was wet cardboard with this one. Only reason it isn’t rated lower is due to benefit of the doubt.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2017 Gave this a 4.3 nine years ago. Times change, palates change, IPAs evolve...Not that Founders Harvest is bad, and I'm sure it did absolutely blow me away when I first tried it in 2008. Now, though, it's a pretty straightforward pre-Craft Boom IPA, citric and bitter but not nearly as aromatic and aggressive as the hop bombs of today, more piney and herbal than fruit forward. (I'm assuming the beer's stayed the same post-San Miguel buyout, but, judging by the erratic quality of the brewery's current offerings, it's entirely possible 2008 Harvest was a different beast altogether.) I enjoy the old-school bitterness, the huge pine-resin back end that lingers forever on the palate, but that's the main thing Harvest brings to the table. Otherwise, it's a well-made, somewhat dull IPA.

From a bottle. Pours orange with white head. Aroma of juicy citrus and toasted malts.

12floz bottle, BOD: 09.19.2017, $12 paid for a four-pack, nonic glass. Appears a golden color, with clarity, and bubbles rushing up to support a tight white head that laces the sides. Aroma is big on orange, and to a lesser extent general herbs. The palate is medium-full in body and moderately-high in apparent bitterness.Pretty good, but taste plays it straight pine-citrus and little else.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is full and crisp. Citrusy hops dominate the flavor with bready malt and tropical fruit provide good balance. Finish is long and hoppy. Excellent brew.

An okay IPA. Quite a bit of citrus, orange hoppiness. Pours gold and has a potent aroma.

Appearance: clear pale gold with one finger of creamy off-white head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: citrus, biscuity malt, tropical fruit, mild resin, slight vegetal. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body tending slightly thin, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (3/5) A bit on the old side, but I’m not convinced that’s the issue here - it’s coming across as a bit thin, and a bit sharp. Not one of my favourite offerings by this brewer, and certainly not as good as e.g. their Centennial. (13/20) 6.5/10 #ryansbooze ryansbooze.com

Bottle from Maekchu. Thanks a lot. Nose is grapefuit, biscuit malt, crackers, lemon, and a bit of pineapple. Cloudy golden orange with a low, rocky head. Sweet, malty, esters, citrus. Lots of orange. Good balance. Crisp.

Yellow-orange pour. Looks thin with just a few bubbles. Nice sweet tropical fruit hop nose. Bit oxidised, with beeswax and honey notes. Taste is bitter, clean slightly resinous. Linger is dry and greenish bitter.

Medium full body. Slightly sweet hops have dropped lots of honeydew and grapefruit. Not bad but not special.

BeerdedDave (1853) - Beckley, USA - MAR 26, 2017
light amber-straw color; very nice citrusy, floral hop aroma; great, juicy hop flavor; great citrusy, fruity hop notes on a medium bodied, toasted malt base
