On tap at Founders. Deep opaque brown-black body, creamy buff nitro head. Roasted malt and coffee nose with hints of pepper tingling the olfactory nerves. Creamy, soft body, with classic roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate stout flavors giving way to significant pepper heat that screams for a nearby glass of ice water. Despite the heat, the beer never becomes undrinkable, and a few sips acclimate the palate to this unusual combination. Yeah, it works! RAYBOY01 (2011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2009
Very dark brown with tan haed. The nose is roasted grain and chocolatey. The flavors start with a pretty tasty roastiness, darkly roasted barley malt, chocolate, and maybe a touch of smoke. But the peppery burn comes in pretty quickly and has avery nice dark roasted chile bite...perhaps tempered just a tad by the creaminess of the nitro pour. Very interesting and fun beer (which pairs nicely with any of Founders great spicy sandwiches they create) badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 30, 2009
this was excellent..surprised at the low ratings! if you dont want habanero in your beer, do not try or rate this beer. nitro tap..huge coffee and milk chocolate start with a piping hot, lingering habanero finish..initially the pepper is not detected, yet upon the swallow it dominates the palate....burning...excellent..kudos to this brewery for having the cajones to brew such a beast dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2009
dark brown bordering on the black, thin tan head, lace clings tenaciously to the side of the glass. mild, airy nose of sweet malt. mildly roasty malt, chocolate, spicy, peppery hot hit. very interesting. medium bodied, sweet malt finish, but a pepper bite that clings to the tip of your tongue. on tap at founder’s tap room. Draft at Founders.
Poured blaack with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Solid toasted malt and spicy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth hot flavor with a medium to heavy smooth hot spice finish of moderate duration.
This beer would go well with sweet BBQ ribs.

On tap at founders. This taste is slight oatmeal, but with an incredibly spicy after taste. I thought that I would really enjoy this one because I am a huge fan of spicy food. As I found out it was difficult to drink a full glass, not because it was hot really, but just because it didn’t taste that amazing. bdigital (658) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 26, 2009
Draft @ Founders: You can pretty much sum up my review by reading coyotehunter’s...I don’t get the point in this brew. It smelled nothing like pepper’s and tasted nothing like oatmeal, chocolate, or anything other than PEPPER’S! Not a good brew. I appreciate the attempt but ultimately it’s a massive underachievement. coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - SEP 25, 2009
On tap at the brewery 9/24/09. What an abortion this is. It pours a dark brown with the standard thin nitro head. Smell is quite faint of bitter chocolate. I had to work at it to get anything. Taste is like drinking liquid Habaneros. Hot, Hot, and maybe some more hot. I like hot food, but this isnt doing it. Thersw no flavor to speak of other than the fiery hotness. Epic massive fail. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - SEP 24, 2009
On nitro at the brewpub. Dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is heavy bakers chocolate with coffee and sweeter roast. Flavor is big spice with same bakers chocolate, sweeter, some cola nice. Creamy, medium to light body. This might be the only time that I’ve agreed with something being on nitro as it seems to cool down the heat a little bit. Enjoy the intensity of the chocolate.
