Orange, demarera and hops on nose, big dry hoppy bite with citrus returning in a huge dry hop and alcohol finish. Stunning stuff! jsquire (4538) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUL 27, 2004
On tap at the ’04 Michigan Brewers’ Guild Summer Beer Festival. Deep orange/amber color with a thin yellowish head and a pineapple hop nose. Caramel toffee sweetness with a smooth hop resin/grapefruit flavor. Lingering orange rind bitterness with a noticable hop burn on the tongue. GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2003
MIBG Fest: Served under the name Double IPA, but the description seems to match pretty closely to what I had, so I assume they are the same beer (or close enough that creating another in the database would be a waste). Red-amber colour with a creamy orange-citrus aroma. Big, well-balance flavours of malt and hops and a pleasant boozy warmth in the finish. A beer this big and hoppy could easily fly off the handle, but this one is right on the mark. Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - JAN 8, 2004
GABF '03. Nice copper color with decent tan head. Nice floral aromas. Citrus and hops dominate. Very strong alcohol is not masked enough to compare this with any of the great Imperials I have had. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUL 28, 2004
On tap at Founders. Had the Devil Dancer I3PA a few weeks ago and this is hard to differentiate from that beer. Clear orange-brown body, thin cream-colored head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is light (because the beer is served so cold), but bitter piney/grapefruity hops are apparent. Extremely hoppy flavor of pine and grapefruit skin, interplaying with the caramely sweet malt body to create a candy-like fruity flavor bordering on artificial cherry. Medium-thick bodied, leaving a bitter finish. Quite good. Alcohol isn’t as apparent as it is in Devil Dancer but otherwise the beers are similar beasts.

Mine was a double IPA at 9% abv, on tap at the brewery. Beautiful reddish brown and heavy! Nice strong bitter and sweet aroma. Big Centennial (?) action - big burn, nice! On handpump occasionally at the bar (oh, I wish!). Plans for a 3X IPA. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 8, 2004

On tap. Color...pitch black with a massive tan head. Nose..deep, dark chocolate, bonfire ash, burnt molasses and vanillin. Palate...full, opulent and coating with plenty of oaky bitterness, and mounds of bittersweet chocolate. The mid palate is dry, earthy and loamy with cassis and and toasted hazelnuts. The finish is lengthy, mildly bitter and oozing with cocoa mass. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 24, 2003

Draft at MBG fest. Ruby orange color. Small thin head. Hoppy aroma with slight malt aroma. Taste of malt and quick hop astringency. Tasty.
