Botte @ Private tasting, Denver, thanks to Adnielsen. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, licorice, coffee, some old dusty notes aswell. Taste is raosted malts, licorice, chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, again some dusty / basement notes. Full body, low carbonation. Good stout, but wonders how old it was due to the dusty notes.100411

Pours a black, inky body with a fading tan head. Color is awesome. Aromas of dark roasted malt, coffee, a hint of banana. Flavor is the same with some fruity tones from the alcohol. Finish is sticky with a slight bitterness.

Poured from a bottle into an oversized Duvel tulip. Appearance- pure black, with an inch of slowly developing head. I will never drink this beer in a different glass again! Beautiful stout! Smell- Lots of chocolate, roast, and coffee with a hint of alcohol, very inviting. Taste- Very true to the aroma, though the alcohol is very well hidden. Mouthfeel- Thick mouthfeel, I am aware that Im drinking a big beer, but my palate can handle at least another beer after this one. Overall- Excellent beer. If Founders made this a brewery only release with a gimmicky name, it would be among the most discussed beers on this site. However, I am much happier knowing that I can grab this bad boy off the shelf for 3 months of the year. If you like stouts, you will like this one!

12oz bottle. Poured a pitch black color with a nice, thick tan head. Aroma was extreme malts, notes of chocolate malts, coffee notes, alcohol shines through. Flavor was rich, roasted malts, burnt notes, alcohol. Pretty darn good.
