Aroma: roasted malts, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, dark fruit. Taste: holy crap this is good...roasted espresso beans, salty licorice, roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, fudge, whole wheat bread, raisins, dark fruit, toffee, marzipan, roasted nuts, sultana, graham cracker. Mouthfeel is just awesome, it’s thick, creamy, gloopy, just as I love my stouts the best! Full body with an amazing roasted and bittersweet finish. This is one friggin’ amazing imperial stout!!! I drink a lot of fine beer, and some rasty stuff to remember the difference, so it’s a great delight when a beer comes along that just sweeps me away, a most rare wave. One of the darkest heads I’ve seen. First sniff is assaultive, had to pull away: alcohol, ether, chocolate, rye bread—slightly chemical but wow. Thick coming out of the bottle and through the mouth so smooth, a texture i keep noticing as I drink, just seeing how the brew moves in the glass. I’m having too good a time with this, the extremeness, not wanting to fall off the wave. getting some woodsy hop flavor edge then in comes molasses, alcohol, coffee. Intense, mixed finish,

Aroma - very cold coffee, roasted malt, a bit of black chocolate, some slightly smoked black fruits and burnt fruit wood, vanilla. 10.5%ABV. Imperial stout
Poured out black with a nice thick creamy cafe-au-lait colored head.
Nose has alcohol, coffee, chinese medicine and liniment. Caramel, burnt sugar.
Mouthfeel is creamy with thick syrupy and almost chewy being adequate descriptors, overall like drinking melted ice cream. Palate is thickly alcoholic with a medicinal flavor profile that suggests chinese medicine, with charcoal this lasts for most of the palate. The tail end has some date jam, black honey, marzipan, pistachio. There is also a very nice mouthfeel of drinking really thick milk coffee, like a Thai iced coffee or a cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee).
Finish is a little sticky but overall very satisfying.
Overall, a hefty, hefty ale with a mountainous grain bill, bucket loads of alcohol, and a pleasantly complicated flavor profile suggesting chinese medicine, dark fruit, charcoal and treacle with a hint of spice with cinnamon and anise. All this covered in soothing silky smooth blue velvet sack. You don’t really realize it till the golden cord is sinched tight around your neck!

Bottle. Black viscous pour with very dark chocolatey head, sticky lacing. Oatmeal and anise aroma, dark chocolate. Rich bitter flavour, charred malts, plum and prune. Thick smooth feel carried by constant tiny carb fizz. No discernible booze warmth, flavour falls away a bit in the back half. From m a bottle. Pours an inky chocolate brown and makes a brown head. Aroma is of chocolate, dark fruits, and yeasty goodness. Tastes of espresso, brown sugar, and cocoa.
