A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, you’re about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Thanks to Momar42 for the bottle! 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours an ultra-viscous looking pitch black color. It’s an amazingly heavy looking monster. The head is a one-finger dark tan color with fantastic texturing. Retention isn’t perfect, but the level of lacing is downright beautiful. It just looks amazing. S: Wow, this is one of the most chocolaty-smelling imperial stouts I’ve ever encountered. There are also notes of hazelnut, cream, vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, and slight dark fruit. No frills, but fuckin’ fantastic regardless. T: It seems like Founders took the basic essence of a standard-issue RIS and distilled it into rapturous glory. I first notice flavors of cream, vanilla, and chocolate; before roasted malts envelop the tastebuds. The umami qualities on the finish are glorious, melding together with anise, tobacco, and pine flavors. It has just enough complexity to keep the palate guessing, while being simple enough that one can easily pick out the differing handful of flavors. Yum. M: You wouldn’t expect such a thick, creamy monster to be so drinkable - but the delicately dry finish and brilliant alcohol concealment means this will be all gone before you know what to do. It’s not so dry as to render its aftertaste gutted, however; some syrupy linger remains without creating overpowering sweetness. One of the best RIS palate feels I’ve ever encountered outside of Nogne O’s RIS. O: Founders didn’t reinvent the wheel, they just showed every other brewer how it should be made in the first place. A brilliant reminder why this is my favorite style out there, and a not-so-brilliant reminder that this was the only bottle I had. :(

On tap at Leeds International Beer Festival, 2017. Pours black with large, dense, long lasting brown head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some licorice, sweet, bitter finish. Full bodied. Very nice.

Butelka 0,33. Wygląd: absolutnie czarne, piana brązowa, ciemna. Aromat: kokos, wanilia, biszkopt, likier Kahlua. Smak: słodkie, przełamane goryczką i wytrawnością, posmak jak po beczce - krem waniliowy, słony karmel, kawa espresso - wszystko w szlachetnym wydaniu.

It has been well described already, so I will just say this is an awesome Imperial Stout and one of my favorites!

600 piwo opisywane na ratebeer. W aromacie dominuje czekolada, do tego praliny, kawa, kakao, wanilia. Z wyglądu czarne, ładna, beżowa piana. W smaku gorzka czekolada, praliny, gorzkie kakao, palone, charakterne. Bardzo gęste, aksamitne, słodkie, goryczka palona, wysoka. Ogólnie poukładany, smaczny ris

Classic imperial stout, jet oil black, extra roasted, ash, sour, strong booze. Nose clearly suggests some barrel aging, pleasant coconut, vanilla, wet wood, honestly. The beer is dense, but not viscous. The bottle would probably be better in a year.

Butelka z grudnia 2016.

Aromat: po otwarciu - o dziwo - żelazo (potwierdził to test skórny) oraz sos sojowy. Po chwili do głosu dochodzą kakao, czekolada słodka i bardzo spieczona skórka chleba/ciasta. Alkohol niewielki. Po dłuższej chwili te pierwsze odczucia zanikają, natomiast nasila się czekolada i wzrasta alkohol. Bardzo dynamiczne piwo.

Wygląd: idealnie. Czarna, nieprzejrzysta barwa. Pina brązowa (z tych ciemniejszych), drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita, gęsta i trwała. Czego chcieć więcej?

Smak i odczucie w ustach: spora słodycz, czekolada, kakao, spieczone ciasto, paloność i umiarkowany alkohol.

Bottle. Perfectly black beer with rocky brown head with great duration and lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, some cocoa, light licorice, dark bread and caramel. Taste is medium+ sweet and medium to heavy bitter, dark chocolate, licorice, roasty, light bread and caramel, with notes of dried fruits. Bitter chocolate in roasted finish. Body is close to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to average. Great, rich, dense, oldschool RIS.

Bottle, pours dark brown, almost black with high light brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, molasses, dried plums and a hint of marzipan. In taste very intensive and good balanced but straight. Medium chocolate sweetness with an slightly ashy, but luckily not overhelming bitter finish. Very classic but very well done as well.

Butelka. Nuty palone i sos sojowy, gorzko kwaskowate, bardzo klasyczny ris, zdecydowanie zawyżone noty.

Aroma: chocolate, dry fruits, cocoa, bit of alcohol. Is seems to me that there is even some vanilla note from oxidation! Taste: sweet chocolate, sour dark malt, ashy aftertaste, some coffee. Head is very nice in this style and carbonation is good too. Overall, it is very delicate and noble imperial stout, with very classic character.
