On tap at Founders. The pour is a coppery gold with a thicker pure white head that leaves a lovely lace around the glass. The aroma is floral as pine dominant very good for an imperial IPA. The flavor lacks those dominant tones. It's a bit sweeter than I'd like to see. There is a light bitterness on the immediate swallow, but it could be more polished. The mouth feel is great, and the finish is gorgeously dry and well executed. This is a solid, solid IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap @ Founders: Hazy, golden body with a foamy white film that sits quietly on top, surviving as a chunky collar & leaving moderate lace behind. Aroma is blasting with tropical hops; light ashy pine notes, bursting passion fruit, mango, & a slight, sticky dankness in the back-end. Very quaffable for 10+% ABV... Lots of dripping wet, sticky resins, pine sap, juicy mango & passion fruit with a light hint of pineapple. Moderately sweet malt sugars are present, but do not delve into the crystal/caramel malt realm, which makes me happy. Sugar covered grapefruit flesh with a mildly floral-like, rose pedal & passion fruit finish... Perhaps slightly grassy, too. Relatively thick, almost creamy with a solid stickiness to the body. This is a great double IPA, right up there with Double Trouble in my mind.

On tap at brewery. Tulip. Grand Rapids Appearance: copper color. Transparent. Small white rim. Aroma: strong hoppy aroma. Not overwhelming. Taste: bitter with a little sweetness. Palate: rich full body. Good carbonation. Thick texture. Overall: I’m not an ipa drinker, but this is pretty decent. Well balanced hops. Good flavor and texture. Well made.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2017 Aroma is floral, sweet grapefruit, very very hoppy. Appearance is orange, almost dark with a white head. Taste is sweet, reminiscent of Double Trouble, yet grassier. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft carbonation, sticky. Overall, very impressive.

Part of a sampler at Founders. Appearance: A dark golden color with a nice head and excellent lacing. The highlight. Smell: Mama... so much hop. Nice bit of fruitiness. Citrus. Fresh. Mm. Taste/feel: Tasting fresh like the smell would indicate, of course. Very nice citrus quality. Slightly sweet, and not very bitter for the style. Also a tea sort of flavor coming off from the hops. No alcohol in the flavor that I could tell. Not warming. Dangerous stuff... drinks too easily. I’m surprised more people weren’t more impressed with this brew. 86 is a low score for a Founders beer! Then again, there aren’t many reviews here yet. Another excellent brew from Founders.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber orange with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and some resinous hops. Mild malt sweetness. Flavor is bitter, lots of pine and resin notes. A fairly robust malt backing is present, provides some balancing sweetness. Full bodied with a nice lively carbonation. Finishes long and bitter. Overall, good.

Draft at Founders. Poured a light copper color with a white head. I got lots of grain and tropical fruit in the nose. Taste had a bit of the grain and fruit with a malt sweetness. I’d buy this if were bottled.

Draft at Founders - pours a clear orange with sudsy white head . Big tropical aromas . Taste brings a bitter resiny bite followed by fruity esters . Finishes fairly clean with slight lingering resin bitterness . Outstanding 2x IPA ! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
