Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Comes as "Founders Curmudgeon’s Better Half". Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Rich, sweet caramel aroma with loads of sweet, smooth Bourbon. Rich body, sweet, sticky caramel, loads of vanilla and sweet wood. Quite some warming alcohol. Delicious, but probably hard to drink an awful lot of. 131112 Travlr (24913) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - APR 25, 2012

As ’Better Half’. Hazy dark amber beer with some particulates. Tidy cream coloured head. Creamy malt nose. Smooth palate, slightly viscous and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Lactose sweet malt, slightly spicy. Mild marmalade hops, fairly well buried. Finishes smooth and dry. Little alcohol spice and a touch of sweet woody bourbon. Pretty simple beer but it’s well joined up and very drinkable!
Bottle at The Others Tasting, London - courtesy of Bruce. Pours clear ruby with modest sediment and some creamy head. Sugary malt nose with light cocoa and sugary fruits. Big sweet flavor with rich bread, light cocoa, hints of maple syrup. A bit medicinal and slightly artificial. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish with some raw alcohol, booze-soaked berries, sugary bread. OK. I love Founders, but this beer and the Frangelic Mountain Brown have hade a certain ’cheapness’ to them that has not impressed me. A reasonably tasty beer overall, but I expect more from this brewery. Rasmus40 (20922) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - NOV 9, 2012
