COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

2012 bottle, this one was courtesy of xscottypx. Thanks! Black with a brown head that disappears quickly. Aroma: chocolate covered coffee beans, cocoa, bourbon, toffee, vanilla. Taste follows the aroma with added milk chocolate. Quite full bodied. Amazing balance, very good stuff! I look forward to opening up another bottle with a bit of aging.

1 finger light tan head. Pitch black beer. Aroma is mostly sweet vanilla and coffee with a lovely boozy kick, but man.. Nothing else is needed. Could smell this all day. Taste follows the aroma with a pleasant whiskey afterburn. So simple yet so delicious. A bit short aftertaste though, which drags it down a point. A strong 7. Mouthfeel is medium thick and slightly oily. Quite dry at the back, probably from the barrel aging. Overall: Very nice Imp. stout. Kinda understand the hype but nowadays, this baby has a lot of competitors in the scene and it isnt a 10/10 with todays standards. Still, it holds its own and this, along with Breakfast Stout and Imp. Stout by Founders should all be Stouts that one should always have at home.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2017 Bottle (2016) courtesy of Iznogud, shared with Trolleo and Veceo. Almost black, tiny brownish head. Enormous coffee and bourbon aroma, more soft than roasty. Well hidden strength. Lovely, lovely aroma, smooth as f*ck. Chocolate, coffee (slightly more than chocolate) , bourbon, smooth with prickly carbonation. Smooth, simply tasty, technically flawless. A lovely beer, worthy of hype!

Bottle into a red wine glass as that is the best the holiday cabin had. Allowed to warm for half an hour from the fridge. Poured black with a chocholate milkshake coloured one finger foam. Rich tones of coffee and chocolate and a hint of booze. So smooth, full and round in mouthfeel. Loads of lingering flavour and a hint of bourbon at the end. This was +12% (2016) and it didnt show any alcohol taste at all. Brilliant. Definitely something to savour at the nights end, but only if you hadnt been drinking prior as it counts as 3.5 standard drinks per small bottle.

I would eat breakfast 3 times a day, just for an excuse to drink it. Difficult to find in Belgium. Could not find anything really to criticize, except that the bottle is too small.
