A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours a beautiful brown, almost black with a thin creamy head. I forgot to catch the aroma after first pouring because I was so excited to drink it. Tastes like liquid chocolate with slight hint of coffee. This is not a bad thing. Heavy on the bourbon up front but mellows as it warms. Mouthfeel is about the best Ive had in a stout, not too thin and not too heavy. I know Im going all fanboy but this is honestly one of the top three beers Ive had. It lives up to the hype IMO. P.S. I know what it smells like...perfection.

Draft at Hollingshead. Pours a dark, black color with a nice, tan head. Great bourbon notes with vanilla and roasted malt. Unreal taste. Smooth and warm. Bourbon, oak, coffee. Everything you want. Simply an amazing brew.

Pitch black coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall rich brown microfoamed head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, oak and a lot of caramel sweetness. Full-bodied; Super rich malty flavours dominate with licorice, anise, roast, coffee, dark chocolate and a pungent oak and vanilla flavour with bourbon and boozey notes right behind. Aftertaste shows some roast, coffee, earth, licorice, vanilla, oak and a lot of sweet and very easy-to-drink cereal sweetness with marshmallows, lactose and some residual vanilla flavours, but all goes down very easily and much better than youd expect at 11%+ abv. Overall, a great beer as expected - definitely well worth having, finding and aging! Im finally sampling this on tap in NY after being from MI and still never having it! I sampled this eight ounce pour on draught at Rattle N Hum (West) in New York, New York on 03-December-2016 for US$8,00.

4 pack from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA (Bottle date 2/16 - already 9 months old). Aroma is rich chocolate, caramel and vanilla (from the bourbon I suppose), very little coffee. Taste is chocolate, vanilla...not as oily and rich as I had hoped (wondering if these bottles are just a bit too old to hold the coffee notes). Let me also add that while the booziness is really well hidden, this beer will punish you. Dont normally feel too tipsy off of beers but this one got me twice. Not as good as I hoped but will def look for fresher bottles next time.

Dont get me wrong, this is a beer of the highest quality. Its the most well balanced boozy beer Ive ever had and I really enjoy it. Its just that it doesnt fit my palate and I have to be honest.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4, many thanks! Pours deep brown with a diverse-foamed beige head. Aroma is dominated by oak barrel and vanilla next to coffee and booze. Body is full, sweet, a little booze (but matching extremely well), and mostly chocolate. Some nuts. Very smooth and round. Palate is surprisingly non-super-sweet, making it a great pleasure to drink this beer at whatever speed you would like. Both dry quenching and warm sipping work very well. A well deserved top 50 spot.

Pours a deep brown color with a boozy malt aroma. Taste is warming, with a distinct bourbon flavor that overwhelmed all other flavors. Coffee and vanilla notes make this beer very enjoyable.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Aged for around 1 year. Inky black with a thin dark tan head of foam. It has a rich dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee flavour followed by oak, vanilla and spiced dried fruit on the warming finish. Good.

2012 bottle. Dark brown, nearly black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate, slightly stale coffee notes but a nice chocolate backbone. Taste is similar, cocoa and coffee, not bad, but not what I was expecting.

Dufter virkelig godt; vanilje, nellike, enebr, kaffe, tr, bergamotte mske ogs eller noget mere mentol agtigt? Voldsomt, i hvert fald. Sprittet ogs, som bourbon (hvilket den jo ogs er lagret p) Smagen er kaffe-vanilje drn, med en voldsom og langsomt overvldende sprittet rhed af bourbon. Bliver mere spiritus end l i eftersmagen!
