A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Its just the best. The only bad thing I can say is I wish I could get my hands on more. If you see it, buy it. You will not be disappointed.

KBS bourbon barrel aged is strong, aromatic and surprisingly easy to drink. I love a shot or two of Blantons or Woodford, but combining the essence of a fine bourdon so brilliantly with Founders ability to construct a bold stout creates a masterpiece. For those who appreciate Epics Big Bad Baptist or North Coasts Old Rasputin, KBS will ignite your passion. Truly the epitome of bourbon barrel stouts.

On tap, pours black with medium long-lasting head. Nose of coffee, vanilla, bourbon, and chocolate. Flavor to match that just coats the entire palate. Not much else to add to this classic!

Finally found a bottle of this. :-) 35cl sample. The aroma has strong vanilla, smooth moccha and chocolate, bit roast and bourbon. Black coloured beer with a creamy, beige head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, light-moderate sweet with strong vanilla tones, very smooth moccha chocolate, bit fudge, chocolate and roasty tones. Very pleasant smooth mouthfeel. Barrel aging is wonderful done, not too much and definitely getting the bourbon complexity in the beer. Good stuff. Lives up to its status.

Trs bien foutue. Superbe longueur.

2017 brewing. Crowler from Kunda Beverage in King of Prussia, PA. Pours oil black with minimal dark brown head. Sweet bitter coffee and booze aroma. Mouthfeel is heavy but not super heavy. Little carbonation. Taste is both of coffee and bourbon. Coffee makes it kind of bitter. Bourbon makes it sweet and bourboney but not crazily so. Very good but I doubt Id hunt it down. Glad to have tried it though.

Bottle (12oz). Black with 1/2 finger light brown head. Aroma of bourbon and coffee. Taste is very coffee. Not much chocolate. Pretty good, but after one try, it does not live up to the hype. I have another, will try again with an open mind.

Pours a a half finger of tan head on a black body. Aroma is coffee, milk, wood, burnt caramel, and roasted malt. Amazing. Taste is black coffee, licorice, alcohol heat, and roasted malt. Texture is soft and smooth.

Black body with a rather small, long-lived, medium brown head that sticks to the glass. Intense aroma of dark roasted malt, dark and bitter chocolate, cocoa, strong coffee and fruits, with alcohol and ash in the back. Quite intense flavour that follows the aroma, but with more pronounced ashy notes, and also quite obvious influence from the barrel ageing: wood, a bit too boozy bourbon and some vanilla. Moderate to heavy sweet taste with a very long-lasting and heavy bitter finish. Full-bodied, creamy and smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A magnificent brew, but I guess a couple of more years in the bottle would have made the experience even smoother (i.e. mellowed out the alcohol).

On tapm Boozy aroma. Some roast, more woody notes than malt as it warms. The sort of aroma I associate with wine. Weaker than expected. Pours black with a lace of tan head. Flavor is rich. Sweet, roasted malt, wood. The malt is pretty generic roast, not super coffee of chocolate etc. Some bread notes. Lots of alcohol warmth. It also kind of stings the tongue. Sticky on the tongue, like so thick. Its not at all cloying, and maybe Im broken but its not as complex as I had anticipated.
