COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle. [ Courtesy of drewbeerme ] Black color with a average creamy good lacing mostly lasting brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, dark chocolate, vanilla, light hoppy, cask wood, bourbon. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, nice balance and very harmonious. Body is full, texture is creamy and smooth, carbonation is soft. Very very nice ;o))

12 fl oz, trade with ygtbsm94 . Pours dark almost black with a dense and nice chocolate coloured head. Aroma is smooth chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a smooth bourbon note into the finish. Fantastic balance and only with a smooth bourbon note into the finish. I think most bourban barrel aged beers are way to dominated by the bourbon notes, not this one.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of malt and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of caramel, alcohol, and chocolate, leading to a dry end, where a note of cocoa beans lingers. The alcohol burns slightly in the mouth.

Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has roasted malty coffee aroma with hints of chocolate and some hints of vanilla. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor with some hints of bourbon and vanilla. Has a rosted malty coffee finish with hint of bourbon and vanilla in the aftertaste.

[email protected] FINALLY. After years of looking for this beer and keeping missing it on various places I got to taste it. Pitch black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some alcohol, mild roasted malts along with coffee and some slight vanilla as well. Flavour is very similar in a very nice balance. Thick. Big. Yet so nicely balanced.

Bottle at Pizzeria Paradiso. Black. Brown head that settles quickly to an edge. Solid delicate lacing. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Medium body. Taste has licorice, Starbucks, cocoa. The guy next to me chugged a Tokyo while I was rating this, so that spectacle might have distracted me. I hope he’s OK.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2016 Bottle at home with Tom and Royce ... smokey woody nose ... again i get the Bourbon ... lots of woodness and a little smokeyness ... coffee and vanilla as expected... good balance... but just not quite there for me ...3.5<tk2> Bottle at home with Fin...smokey woody chocolate malt nose ... deep dark chocolate with the bitterness that comes with a 70+% coco chocolate ... light vanilla ... bourbon seems much more subdued this time 3.7 Tk3 2009 drunk 2011... Bottle at my cloisters Bar staff tasting no2... deep deep black ... huge coffee nose little smokey malts ... smooth sweet lots of chocolate ... little charcoalin linger ... little bourbon, but quite light. 4.1bottle at chris?s ... huge coconut bourbon ...sweet roast .... vanilla.... huge chocolate ... realy quite nice Keg at the hanging bat 2015 version drunk apr 2016... Dark black.. Thin tan lacing... Soft chocolate roast malts.. Light coffee nose... dark dry chocolate roast.. Light wood.. Big coffee.. Light bourbon 4.2 funny every time ive had this the score goes up. Light coconut on linger Keg at hanging bat... Dark malts.. Thin tan lacing... Soft sweet chocolate roast.. Big malts.. Dark roast.. Dark chocolate.. Rich roast.. More bourbon than i remember from 3 days ago.. Dark roast 4.0

Bottled, thanks Marsblursi! Black as a November night in hell. Pale brown head. Strong coffee aroma. Sweet and a bit syrupy. There are lots of coffee - vanilla and oak is there to a lesser extent. The mouthfeel is clean and the sweetness quite severe, which limits my enjoyment. The bourbon is balanced, but I find the the malt structure not really to be up to the very high rating.

Opaque black - brown beer, tiny tan head. Wet wood and ash nose, not great. Semi dry and semi soft palate. Wet wood, dark chocolate, coffe,. bourbon. A little creamy dark malt. Finishes dry. Not bad but I am at a loss as to this beers ’all time great’ status. 3.2.

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Opaque brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Lovely touch of dark chocolate with dark malt cream. Fruit bourbon, a little spicy bourbon. Coconut and a trace of wood. Smooth finish brings more spice. Lovely stuff and a country mild better than the one I drank all those years ago.
