COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Doesnt get much better than this. Roast, chocolate, and coffee all throughout the aroma and flavor. Body is big, very well attenuated. Once a beer gets this dark in color Im not sure it retains enough complexity in the visual to garner a perfect score in that category, just a personal hang up I suppose. This is a beer all should try. Drank one now, will be drinking one in a year or two as well.

Pours oily, pitch black with creamy, deep tan lacing. Intense malty aroma, lots of coffee, some cognac. Taste is tingly, light bitterness at first, then plenty of lightly roasted malts. Hint of alcohol in the aftertaste but surprisingly little so considering the ABV. Mouthfeel is rich and oily, smooth carbonation. Its a great imperial stout without too much coffee, really great full flavoured taste.

35.5 cl bottle. Black beer with a lasting cappucino-coloured head. Aromas of chocolate and coffee dominate with vanilla, muscovado sugar, syrup, you name it. Taste is initially basically bourbon with malt, very boozy. Wow, I wouldnt call that an undertone, more like drowning the beer in the bourbon. Almost none of the sweetness in the taste, palate is quite hoppy in the finish. Its great, but it does feel kind of weird drinking this as a beer.

Black, quite nicecbrownish head. Aroma: fresh coffee, caramel, some vanilla notes. Full to medium body, medium sweetness. Flavour: again lots of coffee, cereal, caramel (some lactic notes?), subtle barrel notes ( vanilla and woody finish). Alcohol perceptible but in acceptable level. Propercbut not captivating.

Bottle from Rickfifty, thanks! Pours dark brown with a small, brown head. Lots of coffee, some sugar, malt, dark chocolate flavour. Herbs. Sweet, with quite a lot of bitterness as well. Thick body. A bit dry. Medium to soft carbonation. Good!

Yeah baby, this is a good one. Had a rather subdued aroma to start, just some roastiness and coffee. Flavors were surprisingly sweet but not cloying - would make a perfect after dinner dessert beer. Tastes like chocolate covered coffee beans, but very well balanced. Opens up nicely after a bit of time and makes an excellent slow sipper.

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty earthy taste with rye and coffee notes. Sweet earthy chocolatey mineraly taste with toffee and hot vanilla notes. Full-bodied. Hot, mealy, flattish mouthfeel, kind of sharp. Sweet vanilla fudge and coffee aftertaste with toffee and caramel notes. Lots of great flavours here, but too sweet, too sharp, too hot, and too much. Scaling it down a little bit and drying it out would have made for a much better beer. (0.355l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strmmen storsenter.)

0,355l bottle, 2016 version (12.4%). Pours oily black colour with good amount of head for a IS. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, sweet bourbon, roasted malts, wood. Quite bitter and sweet taste, alcohol is quite present, but isnt out of place. One of the greats.

Bottle at home. Pitch black with a small tan head. Full body with low carbonation. Well balanced sweet and bitter tones. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Very good.

Petroleum black pour, dense tan head. Massive oak tannins, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate on nose. Full body. The barrel is not dominant on taste. It leaves just a hint of vanilla. Chocolate. Minor coffee. More whisky. Solid hopping making balance. Incredibly complex. Perfect.

For a beer this tasty I expected a bit more in the aroma. The flavor has some coffee, but its smooth instead of grainy. Quite nice.
