A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

FROM NOTES: November 29, 13 on draft into a snifter at the Black Friday event @ Kraftrwork, Philly. A: Big nose full of roasty malts, subtle vanilla dark chocolate notes, roasted coffee and bourbon (booze). A: Blackest of night with the tannest of tan heads of about a finger and a half thick. VERY SEXY! T: Dark chocolate notes initially that give way to some espresso/coffee notes with the bourbon becoming more evident in the finish. Aftertaste has a balance between the bourbon and the coffee flavors with the bourbon dominating more as it warms. P: Creamy, chewy and silky with a nice low carbonation. Surprisingly very smooth for a beer that is 11.2%! O: Outstanding beer. WORLD CLASS! Very complex. Coffee, chocolate, and bourbon are the primary flavors, as advertised to be. VERY, VERY RARELY does a beer truly live up to the hype, this is that rare example.

Bottle (12oz). Black with 1/2 finger light brown head. Aroma of bourbon and coffee. Taste is very coffee. Not much chocolate. Pretty good, but after one try, it does not live up to the hype. I have another, will try again with an open mind.

Pours a a half finger of tan head on a black body. Aroma is coffee, milk, wood, burnt caramel, and roasted malt. Amazing. Taste is black coffee, licorice, alcohol heat, and roasted malt. Texture is soft and smooth.

Black body with a rather small, long-lived, medium brown head that sticks to the glass. Intense aroma of dark roasted malt, dark and bitter chocolate, cocoa, strong coffee and fruits, with alcohol and ash in the back. Quite intense flavour that follows the aroma, but with more pronounced ashy notes, and also quite obvious influence from the barrel ageing: wood, a bit too boozy bourbon and some vanilla. Moderate to heavy sweet taste with a very long-lasting and heavy bitter finish. Full-bodied, creamy and smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A magnificent brew, but I guess a couple of more years in the bottle would have made the experience even smoother (i.e. mellowed out the alcohol).

On tapm Boozy aroma. Some roast, more woody notes than malt as it warms. The sort of aroma I associate with wine. Weaker than expected. Pours black with a lace of tan head. Flavor is rich. Sweet, roasted malt, wood. The malt is pretty generic roast, not super coffee of chocolate etc. Some bread notes. Lots of alcohol warmth. It also kind of stings the tongue. Sticky on the tongue, like so thick. Its not at all cloying, and maybe Im broken but its not as complex as I had anticipated.

12 oz bottle, black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, cocoa. Taste is oak, roasty coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, hints of bourbon. Thick and chewy body, a little boozy but smooth overall. Long aftertaste of bitter dark roasted coffee. Great BBA stout but a tad underwhelming.

BOTTLE 12 OZ. Pitch black, dark espresso head. Loads of earthy coffee upfront, dark treacle, cooking chocolate, rich yet smooth and well polished. Smooth Chocolaty and coffee taste, rich and intense, like chocolate truffles, background spicy alcohol, gentle yet robust roasty and hoppy bitterness. Great.

Both 2016-and 2017 on tap at whole foods in Wexford. Both great with subyile vanilla notes that smooth the coffee. Not much lacing but a modest head

355ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque deep brown colour. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a whiff of bourbon. Intensely complex taste. It matches the aroma. Creamy and full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Excellent brew

Coffee, vanilla and a real bourbon profile that is nothing short of awesome. A little sugary, a little roasted, a little chocolaty. Quick on the palate. VERY strong. Completely lush and full with a long, pleasant bourbon syrup finish.
