Draft… RBSG 2010… Mostly clear, sparkling amber/orange ale with a small, white head. The bouquet is a swirl of toffee, honey, caramel and citrus hops with hints of brandy and raw wood. Full-bodied and oily with stinging carbonation. Malty, vinous, boozy and bitter. Finishes moderately bitter and red hot – almost scorching. Quite warming and very nice! pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 29, 2010
Looking glass. 12oz pour at founders. first rating at RBSG..pours a slightly hazy apricot
orange brown with a thin soapy white head... Aroma of fresh juicy hops
more on the sweeter tropical end with the brandy kickin for quite a
bit...Juicy bubblegum with citrusy and tropical fruity hops. Seems
really fresh. Some sweetness on the backend. Barrel is hard to detect
but a little brandy just right down the middle. Really nice overall
with a a nice subtle brandy impact

Draught at the brewery, RBSG 2010. Amazing and wonderful aroma of simcoe hops, huge fruits, orange, creamy vanilla, brandy. Simple adorable nose! Pretty orange color as well. Sweet flavor with honey and candied fruit, brandy. Huge bitterness kicks in at the finish. Relly interesting—smooth as honey water with amazing fruit. One of the biggest surprises of the gathering.

OK - this is really good. Aroma is so citrusy, it reminds me of Tang. Flavor doesn’t quite have the hop bite/bitterness, given it is aged, but the lingering hops, brandy flavor, and malt blend are superb. Way too drinkable for 11% ABV. Color is amazing - like a bronze-colored emeral with a small foam ring. Terrific. On draft at the brewery. deyholla (11599) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 26, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy deep amber with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice cutting brandy note the melded well with the hops that presented a combination of citrus and pine. Flavor had brandy throughout with citrus in the beginning and transforming to more of a pine finish. Thought this was nice for a barrel aged IPA.

On tap at Founders. Kinda weird like Double Trouble. Sweet onion in the aroma. Pretty sweet-hop character lends itself to this impression. Boozy aroma. Chives. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUL 24, 2010
On tap at Founders. Hazy straw-orange body, thin off-white ring of carbonation. Intense floral, citrusy, bitter hops nose; resiny, with alcohol, oak, and brandy. The body begins with prickly alcohol heat and barrel flavors, accentuating the intensely bitter, piny, citrusy hops. There is fair sweetness, too, with chewy bready malts, bubblegum, and vinous brandy notes. The huge tannic, bitter finish cuts the sweetness. Very good, if a tad hot. On draft at the brewpub. Pours an orangish golden with a few thin wisps of head. Aroma of strong citrus hops and light boozy brandy sweetness. Flavor has a strong hop presence combined with a dryish booziness. Sweetness from the brandy is balanced with bitter hops and booze. Light citrus rind. Somewhat prickly carbonation. Finishes with a mix of booze and bitter hops. Nice beer. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2010
Snifter on tap at the brewpub (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a nice glowing golden orange pour, good haze, really striking color. A small brighter white bubbly head dies to a film, laces the edges. Aromas are a healthy blast of citrusy and melon hops, florals and a pinch of pine mix with lemon and grapefuir, decent oaky vanilla tannins and a touch of boozy bourbon. Juicy. Initial mirrors this: juicy citrusy and melon hops, lemon and orange with grapefruit, melon, florals, a touch of piney resin moving into pale malts and biscuits, bread with a sweeter light brandy appeal, faint bourbon, smoothed out and a touch boozy. Really, a nice melange of juicy citrusy fruits, melon, a touch of acidic brandy and booziness, wet oak and vanilla. Very smoothed out. A top notch beer Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 23, 2010
Draft at Founders during RBSG 2010. Had this right after the CBS and KBS, and this blew both of those out of the water! Pours red/amber, thick white head, lovely lacing; Holy shit this stuff smells fantastic! Massive Simcoe (and apparently Amarillo, according to Founders Dave) character, huge grapefruit, lovely mixed citrus notes under the grapefruit, just lifted and pure and dazzling. Flavours are solid, not boozy, and notes of lemongrass, spice (the brandy barrel?), and finally some woody/piney notes come in, but mostly just more grapefruit. Epic.
