On tap @ Founders. Pours a clear brown color, thin broken white head. Slight alcohol presence on the nose, syrupy sweet malt aroma. Taste is a bit too warm and definitely too sweet for my tastes. mattmc1973 (479) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - AUG 9, 2009
On tap at brewery. Clear rich brown with tan head. Aroma of oak, maple, sweet malt, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Taste is very sweet, syrup, molasses, and caramel. Creamy and very smooth mouthfeel. This was delicious! Sammy (12195) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 7, 2009
Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Decent brown, sugary, bourbon, smooth mouthfeel. Some maple aroma, whch is from the barrel. GodOfThunder (1249) - Orlando, Florida, USA - AUG 6, 2009
On tap at Founders. Pours clean brown with a little white head. Strong grain and maple aroma. Flavor packed with maple. A little thin, though. DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Draft at Craft. Pours deep brown with off-khaki head. The nose is maple syrup, brown sugar, malt, vanilla. Tastes sweet, malty, with maple syrup and brown sugar flavors. Smooth and well balanced, but the sweetness is a bit high in this. Try this one with cinnamon almonds.

Perhaps my new favorite beer from Founders. Pours a silky shade of brown with a sugary tan head. Smells incredible -- brimming with brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla. I would swear this is barrel aged. Tastes just like it smells and just as good. Balanced and creamy. Awesome. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 26, 2009
On tap @ Founders. Pours dark brown with a white head. Nose is maple, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, malt, and love. Flavor is sweetness from beginning to end. Malt, maple, love, depth, complexity, and more maple... there is a ton of sweetness, but it is still loveable and a bit boozy. Bourbon adds to the sweetness: vanilla, maple, malt, and bourbon. Very little bitterness and lots of love. SAVertigo (20) - Shillington, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 24, 2009
Tried this on tap at Union Jack’s , part of Founders Fest 2009.
The look was a very dark blackbrown, in that you could see some light passing thru at certain angles, but it was a very very dark color.
The smell was only slightly there, and what you had was definitely bourbony.
The taste and mouthfeel were very good. Had a whiskey front end, with a maple syrup back end.
Overall I couldn’t drink this everyday, but it was a nice treat. hrking (140) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - JUL 20, 2009
Had this on tap with Dave himself @ Chumley’s in Broadripple the night before the Broadripple Microbrew Fest. Great treat that I had 2 glasses of. Sweet up front with a bourbon sweet maple presence and of coarse oak. Aged in a barrel that first held bourbon , then maple syrup, then what an awesome barrel to throw a beer in ..you get the picture! My 100th rating on this special brew! CHEERS to all... sarahmarie (265) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 15, 2009
This is a really rich dessert beer, packed with intriguing flavors. It tastes dominantly sweet and sugary loaded with maple syrup and vanilla. There are other flavors swirling around like nut, oak, caramel, and bourbon. Not something I could enjoy everyday, but worthy with the right dessert menu.
