Pour at Founders Fest 2009. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a small beige fine froth. Cloying aroma of light maple syrup, vanilla, barrel, one-dimensional. Flavor follows, cloying, strong vanilla, some maple syrup stickiness, sweet and perfumy, just sugary with way too much barrel. Medium bodied with a slight stickiness and some nice fine fizzy carbonation. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 26, 2009
Sampled draft at the brewpub (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a nicely hazed brown, a bit rusty, nice small offwhitehead that dissipates. Aromas are a nice sweet brown sugar, malt, touch nut, tobacco and light maple syrup.. Nice. Initial is nicely sweet, maple syrup and vanilla, a touch of brown sugar, light hoppy bitterness in the finish. Solid body, light enough to drink several but with enough body to really keep some good flavor and light sweet residual aftertaste. Quality brown ale, high ABV that hides well. Cheers! badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 24, 2009
swish mountain brown ale aged in bourbon barrels...excellent tap at founders..pours medium brown with no head..aroma of bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, and faint hops...pretty much the same for the flavor, with added hints of caramelized sugar and syrup.low carbonation..figgy and similar to a quad almost..bizarre...thick palate BeerBunker (965) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - JUN 21, 2009
On tap at Founders Fest 2009. Pours brown with a minimal tan head. Aroma is of bourbon, chocolate, caramel, maple, and hops. The hops can be detected in the beer, but they are overpowered by other flavors. There is a slightly muted caramel malt taste that is also overpowered. What this beer is all about is the maple and bourbon. The beer is dominated by a sugary maple taste. There is also a harsh bourbon flavor. Each sip finishes with a lingering chocolately alcohol burn. Once the beer got warm, it became all chocolate and bourbon. Mouthfeel was thick and sticky. Not a good choice for a hot June afternoon. A good beer, but muddled. I had this on tap at Founders Festival 2009 with BeerBaron617. I must say, it was worth the extra drink ticket! Awesome brew. A nice thick malty beverage. Dark brown with a caramel head. Heavy aroma, sweet, maple, sugar, everything nice :) Heavy mouth feel, not quite syrupy...but absolutely delicious! If I can find it around me, I will certainly buy it again!

On tap at Founders. Pours a watery brown with minimal head. Nose is not real present, but the taste makes up for it I guess. Not great in its a bit too sweet and not real balanced in any respect. Too much alcohol flavor in the finish. MrBunn (2844) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 13, 2009
On tap at Founders. Pour is a medium brown with little head and mapley aromas. Flavor is fairly cloying and tastes like thin maple sryup with a little alcoholic bite. SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - MAY 23, 2009

Draft at brewpub.
Poured dark brown color with medium frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted nutty malt and maple syrup aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor and a medium sweet nutty finish of moderate duration.
Very good brew and went well with my reuben sandwich.
