Sampled at the 2009 Founders Black Party. Heavy maple syrup, brown sugar, alcohol and bourbon. This was massively sweet, cloying and hard to drink with the alcohol not well hidden at all. Sticky, medium-full body. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - APR 20, 2009
On tap at Black Party, its what it says it is. Probaly the fullest body beer we had that night, massively malty with ample flavoring more outfront then the Canadian BS,sweet, flavor like a rollo candy with maple on it, no hopping noticed,a pleasant sipper that I ended the night with. Alcohol well hidden marchcow (664) - Coralville, Iowa, USA - APR 14, 2009
Strong sweet bourbon aromas. Reddish brown color, sweet and sugary bourbon flavors. Maple is evident. Light woodiness. Palate is not too heavy. Bourbon and maple in the duration. Unusual. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - APR 5, 2009
On draft at founders. Clear mahogony with small, creamy, beige head. Aroma is fresh hops, citrus, vanilla, barrel is secondarybut still present, maple, brown sugar, nice. Flavor is maple, brown sugar, a little buttered popcorn, alc, sweet. Medium to thin, a little watery, light carbonation. Solid but not exactly balanced. On tap at founders. Dark brown in color, with light head. Very strong maple and malts in this one. Quite a nice beer.

Draft @ Founders: Very dark brown in color...small beige head. Heavy doses of maple, wood and vanilla compliment a nice roasted malt body. Sticky, full body...flavor was cloying and again really over-the-top in the maple category with some subtle vanilla and bourbon noted. Quicker (18) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Tried again for the second time. Is very smooth and has a lot of flavor, can taste the maple and can detect some of the alcohol. A very good brew, I just wouldn’t want to drink it alll night long. lampeno420 (320) - Zeeland, Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2009
Tried it for the hell of it at Founders last night. Almost like drinking thin syrup. Almost overly sweet, which wasnt the case for the canadian breakfast stout. A small amount of alcohol detected, and a little pricey at 7.50/12oz. Fun to try, just dont think i’d do it again. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - FEB 15, 2009
On tap at Founders. Deep, murky red-brown body, thin, clumping off-white head. Strong maple nose with cocoa, toast, and molasses. Very sweet body, almost cloying, with brown sugar, maple, toast, and a bitter somewhat tannic finish. Eight ounces was a sufficient sample; this is a slow sipper dessert beer.
