3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Popped on a whim, pours out a medium golden hue, good carbonation, white head. Aromas from what I remembered when fresh died down a bit. The vivid tropical coconut sweetness was mellowed out in the nose, seemed a bit hot. Palate was pretty well put together, some malty sweetness up front and a sugary backend that was hot with alcohol. I thought the bourbon was holding this one together in the finish, but even after roughly 2 years, this could still use some time to mellow out.
Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish color. Aroma and taste are sweet maple, bourbon, toffee, and oak. JPDIPSO (6236) - Wauwatosa, USA - JUL 11, 2016
Hazed amber to orange in color liquid. A few fish food flakes floating about. A moderate head of tight, ecru colored bubbles. The initial quick sniff brought scents of tropical fruit. Further sniffing brought out the spice and whiskey scents. Wood and sour mash start to work their way into the aroma. I don’t catch enough malt base in the aroma. Sweet, very sweet from the start. A Jack and coke sweetness. Whiskey seem to dominate throughout the quaff. Fairly average feel, with low carbonation and a bit of bite from the alcohol. Stomach has a small fire starting. If you like whiskey, you should like this one. Not overly complex, but a strong ale with a bourbon kick. 6/10

12oz bottle thanks to Jake65, share on 6/11/16. Nice medium amber body, small airy head. While this is all barley wine through and through, the barrel aging makes adds the right amount of sweetness and smokiness to this brew. Hints of vanilla, marshmallow, licorice and molasses add to the complex tastes. Slow, pleasant burn caps this off. Spectacular! IndianaRed (4765) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 11, 2016

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of bourbon, toffee, spice and light oak. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, bourbon, oak and spice with a smooth dry lingering bourbon finish. fraternie (1011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 9, 2015
An absolutely rollicking aged blonde barley wine, with equal parts caramel malt and red wine and barrel nuances. Hints of wheat linger with sharp heat through the finish. AirForceHops (7296) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - APR 3, 2015
12 oz. bottle thanks to Willrunforbeer via dmac for free beer week, thanks men! No head on a muddy river water brown color. Aroma does show oxidation (cardboard like) oak barrel, bourbon still exists and light maple sugar. WillRunForBeer (2662) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 3, 2015
The flavor shows moderate bourbon upfront with a light maple sugar through the center. Mild hints of dark fruit more of a plum or raisin with a very weak hint of (cardboard). But the mild oxidation doesn’t affect the enjoyment level I am sipping right now. Mild warming from the bourbon after the sip. Still all in all nice drink. Real surprised how well this held up... Fine brew but drink it if you got it!
