A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appealand the body and clean flavor delivers on that initial promise.

Poured from a tap. Dark brown color, medium creamy off white head. Strong roasted coffee aroma. Medium body with a watery roasted malt flavor and a medium finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(nitro @ Founders Brewing Company - Grand Rapids, MI) Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Very lightly roasted aroma, not much hint of oatmeal. Flavor is pretty much the same. Light roast but not much oatmeal or chocolate. A bit mild and thin.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 Draught > Libertine Bar. Taste fine, palate is great but it's just too small. I don't need a 9% stout but 4.5% is just too small.

Draft: Bakers chocolate and medium roast coffee nose. Black, medium tan head, cascading carbonation, good lacing. Soil with very subtle moss and coffee notes. Creamy, but a tad astringent. Founders does nitrogenated beers very well, perhaps the best in the US. This beer would not be nearly as good on CO2.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2014 On tap, poured into a shaker. The aroma is initially strong raisin but then turns mellow and mild with notes of cookies, coffee, and chocolate. It pours a dark brown black with a tan, big soapy head that reduces to a thick ring with a messy surface, and it leaves a messy lace. The taste is a medium sweet with a very light bitter. The texture is thin, with a medium-light body, and a smooth, creamy carbonation. The flavors are mostly a coffee chocolate blend with some grains at the finish and a roasted note as well. It?s pretty clean and kinda dry with a light cookie-like linger to the aftertaste.

On nitro at River Rd Tavern with Todd Feels a lot like a dry stout but that could be the nitro treatment, Creamy roasty with hints oft cereal and lightly sweet

Pint at Glass Nickel. The steady creamy beige head accentuates the soft mouthfeel. Coffee, cocoa. A touch more depth than a typical nitro Stout. Classic. Well done.

On nitro at World of Beer Tioga (Gainesville, FL). Pours pitch black with a beautiful creamy espresso head on top. Aroma of next to nothing here, maybe some lightly roasted malts, water, thats it. Flavor follows incredibly bland, watered down roast with very little else going on. Thin mouthfeel even for nitro--which always comes off thin to me, despite the silkiness--and low carbonation. Overall, I would take this over Guinness, but its just not my style. Whats the point? Id just rather drink water and save the liver.
