COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appeal—and the body and clean flavor delivers on that initial promise.

Black colour, big rocky head and nice effect of nitro. Medium intensive aroma of roasted malts and sweet black coffee. Taste is over medium sweet and light bitter with medium sweety finish. Slightly coffee aftertaste. Flat carbonation. Low to medium body. Overall, very good stuff.

A beautiful beer to behold, taking quite some time for the brown head to settle down. (There were still wisps of creamy foam left once the stout was gone and, yes, I did tip the glass to be sure I didn’t leave behind a bit). Hints of chocolate in the aroma. Greatly balanced and truly creamy. Positively delicious on tap and propelled by, what else?, nitro.

On nitro tap at Barleys Taproom in SC. Opaque nearly black body is topped by a creamy tan head that has good retention and that leaves the point glass coated with patterned lacing. Lots of dark roasted grains and a hint of sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is rich with roasted grains and bitter for style, but not objectionable. Very smooth mouthful with a touch of dryness in the finish. Lingering, well-balanced dark malt aftertaste. O: robust and excellent for style.

8/22/15. On tap, Craft on Draft. Black pour with a nice tan head, good lacing, from the nitro, I’m guessing. Good aroma, rich dark chocolate and coffee, roast, a touch of a meaty aspect. Good flavor, roast, some caramel, dry, dark chocolate, coffee. Nitro feel. Tasty!
