Tap @ MBG, amber with a decent white head. Lots of c-hop in the aroma, with not much else going on overall. Very easy drink, just bland in general.

Dark orangey-amber. Light white head. Straightforward citric nose comes out grassy, grapefruity and rather sweet. The palate is drier too, the citric bite growing and somehow working to enhance to drinkability. Citrusy hops, toasted malts, no mistake, direct and kinda efficient pale ale. Light bodied, moderately high carbonation.

MiBG Fest 2005:

Tangerine hued with a small tight head and some lacing. The aroma has notes of fresh grapefruit and apple, herbal and piney hops, bready malts, light yeast esters, and a touch woody. The taste starts bitter and acidic with a nice balance of pale malt. The feel is crisp and refreshing, enjoyable. A bit metallic on the finish. Wow, another winner from Founders. Mikey Likey!

On tap @ MBGF: Aroma is loaded with citrus hops. Transparent orangish-amber with a small white head. Very light citrus sweetness up front with lots of pine hops and some grapefruit in the finish.

Draft at MSBF. Pours a golden orange color with a white head. Nose is full of big hopps and citrus notes. Taste is refreshing and hoppy, with some slight bitterness. Notes of citrus run throughout.

fresh amarillo hop aroma, light copper hue, incredibly crisp and refreshing, good balance with the scale tipping slightly to the hoppy side

Really fresh, well balanced pale ale. Golden amber with fluffy white head. Nose is nicely hoppy, fresh oranges and tiny hints of pine. Body is medium thick and malty, caramel and toasty. Crisp carbonation, snappy. Nice overall, really crisp! Session beer in the true sense of the word.

2004 harvest celebration at founders...cloudy orangish yellow appearance...citrus smell; very flowery (and sour) or citrusy taste also; nice palate; overall similar to the harvest but much less hoppy; good beer overall

Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - OCT 24, 2004
On tap at Founders for their 2004 Harvest Celebration. I liked this beer a bit more than I did the newly-tapped but otherwise similar Harvest Ale. Poured a hazy orange from the cask pull. Pine and citrus hops dominated the aroma, and piney hops also provided most of the flavor profile, rounded out by grapefruit rind and biscuity malt. Had a soapy, creamy mouthfeel the Harvest Ale lacked. I believe this was also hopped with Amarillo hops. A fine APA.

On Tap @Logan’s Alley. Golden colored with a nice medium sized white head. Nice floral hop aroma and flavor, I believe this is a little hoppier than their regular pale, with a little bit of sweeet malt for balanced. Fairly light bodied and quite refreshing. a well done APA
