UPDATED: APR 19, 2015 On tap at black party. Black with little head around edges. Nose is tons of vanilla mellow Bourbon, chocolate. Medium to full bodied, very smooth, soft carbonation. Well balanced, lingering chocolate vanilla, hints of heat. Really great. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - APR 22, 2014
Tap @ Founders: Super black body with a deep colored, khaki collar that forms from the small, swampy skin on top. Aroma is lovely! Packed with smooth bourbon notes, sweet maple syrup, cocoa, vanilla, & lovely spicy wood & tannic notes from the barrel aging. Never getting out of kilter towards spicy, sweet, boozy, or tannic, lovely aromatic balance. Taste is loaded with sweet maple syrup & decadent brown sugar up front, leading into a chocolate candy mid-palate. Bourbon is tame but wonderfully present; smooth bourbon covering roasty chocolate fudge with a finish of maple syrup, french vanilla beans, & light wood. I had high expectations for this beer based on the description alone, & they were certainly met. stoutnick (842) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - APR 21, 2014
On tap at brewery. Black with minimal tan head. Aroma is mild bourbon and caramel. Taste is a lovely combination - mild porter roast, distant maple, some bourbon finish. Lovely full bodied porter. charule (2268) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 22, 2014

Pours black and velvety with a perfect creamy tan head. Aroma is wood chocolate and sweet sugar. Taste is medium body but thick and chewy. Lots of barrel but not the high heat from others. Not much maple but I like it malkyore (377) - - MAR 19, 2014
Imagine you’re sitting at home in front of a crackling fire sipping your favorite small batch Bourbon and drinking a nice roasty stout. Now picture a beer that combines the beer and the Bourbon into the same beverage without sacrificing the flavor of either of them. That’s what this beer is. This is THE most Bourbony thing I’ve ever tasted it almost blows everything else out of the beer, but what it holds onto balances nicely and it’s great. ebone1988 (1932) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - MAR 18, 2014
Aroma is bourbon, some vanilla, roasted malt. Appearance is dark, basically black, not much head. Taste vanilla, bourbon, roast malt. Mouthfeel is perfect, oily, soft, balanced. Overall, wow. alliance100 (1152) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Unblended , straight from the oak barrel in the gypsum mines ! Big maple aromas. Faint vanilla flavors are masked by lots of maple . Medium/light body . Way too easy to drink . Excellent !

On tap at the 1st annual Asheville Rare & Wild Beer Tasting 2013, this pours black with mahogany fringes, and has a very robust choco head. The nose is of roasted vanilla. Flavors have lots of bourbon upfront, followed by dark esters, malts and vanilla, finishing with a cotton-candy essence. A full body integrates all of the complexities at work into a very smooth palate. Great job!
