DATE: May 26, 2017... OCCASION: trying to augment sleepiness for a very early start to the Quiz Bowl trip tomorrow... GLASSWARE: Hennepin pokal... nearly translucent, rich golden body that distributes its bubbles straight in its heart... the two-finger off-white head rings out a central hazy swirl... apparently, the Carapils malts do not help in head retention here... at first sniff, quite a powder keg of Chinook pine, classic Centennial west coast citrus hop, and corniness that makes for an engaging introduction... floral elements challenge the usual expectations of a pilsner ping... body is medium-bodied, smooth and easy-drinking... crisp and dry--a true hybrid... the taste delivers its aromatic promise, with enough pine and lemon grass to cover the India part of this style... backing this against the Southern Tier, it’s tough not to appreciate the diversity and profile of a pilsner behaving strongly... at 5.5%, a reasonable mid to late-afternoon drink...

Where Purchased: 347ml bottle from the Meijer in Michigan (drive home from Chicago) Consumed: from a pilsner glass Aroma: Smells hoppy. Nothing else. Appearance : filtered pale gold with decent head that disappears within the first few sips. No lacing. Taste: very hoppy. If there is any malty or sweet tastes, it is overpowered by the hops. Not what an American Pils or traditional Pils should taste like. Palate : medium body. Bittersweet aftertaste. Decent carbonation. Overall: WAY too hoppy for the style. I was glad to try another quality beer from this brewer, but will not buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Beer Hawk. Pours clear gold with a fluffy, white head. Crispy pale grains in the nose, biscuits, grass. Light sweet flavour with some citrusy hops, grassy bitterness, dried biscuits. Light bodied with average carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Nice hoppy lager.

Can. This is one of the lighter US craft pilsners I've had (don't understand the ISL category, what?). This is very light but not thin or watery, dry, lightly bready malts still detectable. Hops are strong but not overly so, somewhat catty, lightly resinous. Very pale golden color.

Bottle from Beer Hawk. Clear pale amber beer with a large white foam head. Nose is grapefruit citrus, pineapple, pine, grassy, straw, dry yeast, minerals. Nose like a pale ale but there’s a crisp clean dryness to this that presumably comes from lager yeast. Grassy hops in there faintly too? Taste is citrusy fruity grapefruit, pineapple chunks, grassy, straw, bit of pine but clean and dry-ish on the palate. Finish is grapefruit citrus rind. Prickly carbonation.

Sinceramente non so catalogarla, una via di mezzo tra una IPA delicata e una pils luppoleggiante, ma importante che sia godibile.

I really liked this as a pils, Hoppy and similar to ipa, but enough differences in the aroma and taste to make it a pils for me. Couldn't really find anything wrong with this. Solid beer

Unde (1229) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 21, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2017 A bit cloudy yellow beer with smallish head on top of the beer. Aroma has American hops, grapefruit, pines grass too. Taste is hoppy with grapefruit and citrus bitterness, some malty backbone is there too. Medium body and medium carbonation. As the title says American Hopped Pils.
